Great signing. He might pan out, he may not, but he's a big russian that actually came over, which is a good thing in my eyes.

Couldn't be happier about this.
I kind of agree with him, when expectations are low you can only be surprised.

I for one have never seen him play, but those who have can only say good things about him so this must be good news! I'm hoping he will play a game or two in the pre-season, I tend to catch a few of those every year.

Well, that makes sense, it's still a sad philosophy to live by .

The point is, it's good news that we finally got a highly touted russian to come over.

What kind of physical play does he exhibit? typical perimeter skill guy or a guy with a nose for the net and hitting?

I'll try to post the video someone else showed me a while ago. He seems to be just above the level of 'doesn't shy away from contact'. He seems to like it a bit. And he's got some really slick moves. He'll have to learn to keep his head up a bit, since some of those moves will get him pasted.

I like what I'm seeing. I just hope he doesn't pasted like the Sauer-AK46 hit.

The fact is..he already gained experience on the pros in the KHL..
Even though he was on the 4th line and played few tiny minutes per game, he managed to earn 9 points in 30 games. Nice move by Gauthier.

Haha, on this video he looks like Kovalchuk. I hope he has good speed, can't wait for him to play for bulldogs.

Yeah, i think that's watsatheo's video, so we can all thank him for it. It's too bad there aren't anymore videos like that on youtube of him.

I'm guessing they gave up quite a few performance incentives in it.

I think half a year to a year in Hamilton should be good for him. I doubt he will play with the habs any games this season because we have a lot of depth in players this year on forward and defence so he might get passed over for other guys like Desharnais, Pacioretty, White, Maxwell, Palushaj, Trotter, etc. Unless we have another injury plagued season that sidelines around 4 forwards at once, I would be surprised to see him. Anyway, 1 year in Hamilton would be beneficial for him because he would be playing on thr top line and adjusting to the North American style of play. One thing that does worry me is that Martin likes a defensive system and I hope he dosen't become the next Filatov.

I can't for the life of me remember, but in another avtsin thread, the 'avtsin will attend development camp thread', someone said something about him proving his speed and that he was VERY fast. I THINK. Hope i'm not thinking of someone else.

And yeah, that could quite possibly be the most vague post ever.

This is not a philosophy that should be applied to everything But it's good for prospects, so many disappointments over the years.

Possibly, but every ELC is a 3-year contract, so I doubt there was too much haggling on either side.

If Avstin has a great camp and makes the Canadiens like many experts seem to think he can, I can see one of ,or both Pouliot and Kostitysn being traded.

Avstin if he makes the club would be a top two scoring winger replacing one Pouliot or AK.

Pouliot and AK for Penner

Penner Gomez Gionta
Avstin Plekanec Cammalleri

Nope, you could have 1, 2, or 3 year deals. 3 is just the maximum and lets face it, if Avstin works out, I'd like the 900k cap hit for as long as possible.

Can't wait till we Ol'Yeller Hamrlik and the AKost experiment and bring up actual consistent talent.

I haven't seen many 'experts' say he could make the jump to the NHL. In fact, I haven't seen one. He still needs to adapt to the north american game.

Avtsin is the russian version of Scott Glennie.

(And the best point about that signing is that if he plays for Hamilton, I won't have to create him manually at 74 overall with A A A potential in NHL11 )
