Indeed...with the exception of guys like Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, etc, how many Russians come to North America and immediately play in the NHL? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Yeah but I think I'd rather create him myself than let EA do it. Didn't they get Subban's handedness wrong when they put him in the game? Not to mention bald Sergei Kostitsyn. And I think they have Tavares as a playmaker of all things...

They got him confused with his brother .

They managed to screw subban up good in that game, oh well.

I remake most of the players on the habs. You can actually make Andrei and Sergie look almost 100% accurate, when i get home I can let you know how, especially for Andrei, one of the faces in CAP looks exactly like him, when you put one of the skin tones.

Avstin if he makes the club would be a top two scoring winger replacing one Pouliot or AK.

Pouliot and AK for Penner

Penner Gomez Gionta
Avstin Plekanec Cammalleri
I hope not! It's not like we have too many offensive players. Yeah, we have a lot of forward, but I hope PG get rid of a bottom6 player - to open a spot for Avtsin - before those two.

And I'd keep AK and Pouliot instead of Penner. He's great, he's big, but not at the kost of two good young forward, who actually, have size too. Penner is not the most consistant player too...

Before "A-squared" can DOMINATE anywhere, he has to prove he can cut it at the NA pro level - the AHL is not a Junior league. If things go well, maybe he could get a late season cup of coffee (espresso?) in MTL, or even a more lengthy injury replacement callup.

I would love to see him dominate the AHL, but I choose to be realistic in my expectations...

Unfortunately getting full games require a lot of luck. Basically have to hope sportbox has the game then hope he actually plays. Sadly that was the only game Avtsin played on sportbox (at least the only one I was able to witness). They never showed another MHL game and the times Dynamo was shown, Avtsin wasn't in the lineup. You can however get footage of his goals in the KHL.

Awesome news! Habs basicly traded their 4th round pick in 2009 for a 1st round pick in 2009 by getting him signed.

I can't wait to see how he does down in Hamilton. Hopefully his wrist will be fully healed and all of his strength regained.

I just hope our management helps him to adapt to North America. Not just hockey wise but in everything. I don't mean to give him everything he wants but surround him with good people, make him feel like home. Its not always easy to anyone to leave his home country and go somewhere else without knowing the language/culture etc.

If the Habs decides to take a chance and pick a russian, they should also make sure to do everything for that russian to adapt well in north america. I think we have experienced a lots of russian that didn't adapted well and didn't play the way we expected them to.

Sometimes, its not just always about talent and hockey.

hey Kovalchuck want to join our team.

We got Markov for chemistry and we need someone to help our young prospect Avstin. Pleaser join our team ?

Kovalchuck Eller Avstin
Cammaleri Plekanec AK
Gionta Gomez Pouliot or Moen ( it's our defensive line that plays against other team top lines)
Lapierre Boyd Darche

Now we look like contender !!!

Markov O'byrne
Spacek Subban
Gill Gorges

Weber / Carle

Price
Auld

I'd like to know if that line up could fit under the cap

A $7M+ player on the 3rd line? Eller centering the top line? Avtsin on the top line?

I know that with Kovalchuk easy line up would have been the boring

Kovalchuck Plekanec Cammaleri
Gionta Gomez Pouliot
Kostitsyn Eller Avstin
Lapierre Boyd Moen

Markov O'byrne
Subban Spacek
Gorges Gill

Price / Auld.

But i really was trying to think outside the box here. With three top lines. Instead of 2 top lines and on second line.

But you know, the boring line up is really the better line up. Plus Kostitsyn on the third line would be releived of all the pressure of producing at a pace better than what he does right know.

ex. If Kostitsyn scores 45 points on a second line... it's not really really good. But if he does it on a third line... Then he is really useful to the team.

Plus, the better player of Avstin or Kostitsyn could join Gomez from time to time if Pouliot is in a slump and we all know it will happen during the season.

It's unbelievable how overrated this guy is getting on HFboards. He's 19 years old and has 30 games of 4th line pro experience for cyring out loud! He hasn't even played in the WJC. Give it a chance to see him for a season in the AHL before you crown him.
