Man I'll be happy when we finally deal somebody. No offense to the OP but I'm really tired of these theoretical proposal threads. I read them to to see if some sort of credible source is quoted but other than that they are a huge waste of time.
We just went to the Stanley Cup Finals and a trade this big would mean we brought in 8 new players in the offseason.
EIGHT! That's almost half the squad! Do we need that much turnover after a good year?
We already didn't need the turnover we've had. We've added 5 players, of which only 1 addressed a real need (3rd pairing defender). Why not keep going? Holmgren makes moves for the sake of making moves. The trade proposal is obviously ridiculous, but let's not act like he wouldn't pull the trigger on more deals if he thinks it makes sense.
No offense to anybody; I'm just getting really sick of this ****. A trade obviously has to happen, but I really don't want one to happen because I love this team, and don't want to lose people like Gagne. Unfortunately something has to happen, and i wish it would get over with soon because I want to move on from stupid trade proposals. No offense to you guys at all. My beef is with flyers management for puting us in this hole.
Pronger isn't that big of a hitter, or to be more precise, he doesn't hit often.
But we have Coburn, O'Donnell, Meszaros and Pronger back there, that's enough grit, our D won't be pushed around by anyone.
And to the OP, Carter is 25 years old, it's not like this team desperately needs some youth, the core of this team minus Pronger and Timonen can remain competetive for the next decade.
