We got Markov for chemistry and we need someone to help our young prospect Avstin. Pleaser join our team ?
Kovalchuck Eller Avstin
Cammaleri Plekanec AK
Gionta Gomez Pouliot or Moen ( it's our defensive line that plays against other team top lines)
Lapierre Boyd Darche
Now we look like contender !!!
Markov O'byrne
Spacek Subban
Gill Gorges
Weber / Carle
Price
Auld
I'd like to know if that line up could fit under the cap
Where did you see that Kovalchuk wanted to join the Habs
On topic, pretty trilled to see what Avtsyn can do in the AHL or LHJMQ. Either way, looking forward to see him play. Pretty intriguing prospect.
I just hope our management helps him to adapt to North America. Not just hockey wise but in everything. I don't mean to give him everything he wants but surround him with good people, make him feel like home. Its not always easy to anyone to leave his home country and go somewhere else without knowing the language/culture etc.
If the Habs decides to take a chance and pick a russian, they should also make sure to do everything for that russian to adapt well in north america. I think we have experienced a lots of russian that didn't adapted well and didn't play the way we expected them to.
Sometimes, its not just always about talent and hockey.
Agreed.
And if he gets the off-ice support ne needs to facilitate the transition, Emelin might even hear about it eventually :-)
Nope, you could have 1, 2, or 3 year deals. 3 is just the maximum and lets face it, if Avstin works out, I'd like the 900k cap hit for as long as possible.
Can't wait till we Ol'Yeller Hamrlik and the AKost experiment and bring up actual consistent talent.
Nope, rookie deals AKA entry level contracts are 3 years only.
I agree that the Habs should start him in Hamilton to see how he adapts to the smaller ice surface.. But if he does really well, call him up if the Habs need scoring...
In deed I was missing something. The site I was on only showed last years stats. But 08-09 was quite impressive. How did we land a player like this later in the draft? And how was I not aware of this guy until this off-season?

the general consensus is that nobody was sure if he could play well against a higher level of competition. That and the russian factor made him a 4th rounder.
No he didn't. You're looking at the year when he was 16. At 18 years old Ovechkin had 23 points in the RSL.
Not that I want to compare the two, but I'm pretty sure Ovechkin wasn't getting 8 or less minutes of icetime per game on the 4th line. Avstin's 9 points in 30 games with limited icetime is quite impressive. Been excited since seeing him at the dev camp last year. He may not ever be a first liner, but the guy actually seems to have heart and a work ethic (plus he wants to be here).
How is there only 4 pages about this? I figured people would be more excited.
I'm pumped, but I just hope Montreal does what Pittsburgh did and Bunk Avtsin with Markov like Gonchar bunked with Malkin. Its the way to groom a player properly and especially since Avtsin doesn't have much here, hes clearly making an effort.
