Well the #6 poll is still pretty close but there haven't been any new votes in a while so I'm calling it. Bachman ends up moving up a single spot from last year.

Now, I would like to invite everyone to come join GLU and me on the Sceviour bandwagon. He has arguably the highest proximity of any prospect and his ceiling is certainly better than guys like Sawada and Wathier. Plus, he's a #7 (for now). #7 for #7!

It'll be quite something if we end up with 3 goalies in the Top 10. I can't remember that ever being the case.

True, and the majority appears to agree with you. But wouldn't you admit that Sceviour is far more likely to reach his ceiling? Their respective ceilings aren't that far apart, either.

I'd be interested in finding examples of other prospects who have basically taken a year off from hockey and how they fared subsequently. Anyone have ideas?

What's Stefan Legein up to these days? I don't know if he's still 'retired', but to me he could be Philly's next Claude Giroux if he decided he wanted to be.

That was the guy I was vaguely thinking of but couldn't remember his name. Though in his case that was a voluntary sabbatical. When the question against someone is motivation, its pretty damning toward their chances of making it I'd say.

Maybe Finns doing their mandatory military service would be a better example. But it seems like a lot of the bluechippers get to skip that.
