I just called CKAC to tell them. Let's see if they will take credit!

I took matter in my hand and called.... also did some Brock Trotter hype.

2-Way for sure, he's 3rd or 4th string.

I'd break you in, but we're not allowed to anymore.

Some bucket-booze drinker ruined it for the rest of us.

Desjardins has some definite talent, he doesn't like to give up on the play and his positioning is good at times, but his puckhandling? Gives me a damn heart attack when I'm at a Bulldogs game. He's got to fix that if he ever wants to make the NHL and he seems to lose focus at times.

Hopefully he can fix this, but I don't see him being more than a controversial backup behind Price and the controversy having everything to do with his name.

Awesome, I have a feeling we'll be seeing him in Montreal for a few games this year to give him some experience. He's got very similar stats to Halak in the AHL in his years with the Bulldogs, and Montreal seems to put the right kind of pressure on young goalies, because the amount of young goalies that come out of the system is pretty astounding (since the late 90's, there's been, off the top of my head, Vokoun, Theodore, Garon, Danis, Halak, Price; some good names in there). Goaltending is a position in which a young player given a chance can surprise, it wouldn't surprise me to see Desjardins seize some kind of opportunity soon enough.

This kid has the potential to be a gem for the team. He may never be a starter in the NHL but, then again, compare his record to Halak's.

Some nice similarities.

I hope he has a great year next year and takes over in Hamilton.Wouldn't mind seeing him being given a shot to backup Price in 2 years from now

Since we don't know who the coach will be yet, it's hard to say, but I would assume they will do a 1a-1b type of thing with Sanford getting more starts if he stays healthy. Last year Sanford at the start of the season before (kid was born/got sick/injury) he was lights out, just looked unreal. So it will be interesting to see what will happen, I felt Desjardins wasn't too impressive in the AHL, so at this point I'd be very surprised if Desjardins is Price's backup in '11-'12, but perhaps he could be the starter in Hamilton in '11-'12 with Mayer as his backup, this time they could give him the bulk of the starts.

Why not ? He will be mature enough... He will be 27 ! Ideal age for a backup...

He keeps improving year after year.

He did come from a long way after being signed in ECHL.
I think he came from a long way after being a 13th round draft pick in the QMJHL and playing only 128 games in 4 seasons in this league.

One memorial cup with the Rempart and one memorial cup Final with Crosby is pretty good!

He worked hard but still... he got lucky! When Rimouski went to the Memorial Cup, he wasn't supposed to be the #1 goaltender on the team. He got the job when the #1 was injured. He had good results and stayed there. His stats weren't that good. There was 7 goalies with better stats in the league.

His real breaktrough was in 2006 during the playoffs and the Memorial Cup with Quebec which earned him a tryout in the Canadiens organization.

Not the most talented but he never stops working. He could be a good #2 for us as soon as next year.
