Martin said at his golf tournament that there will be a captain to start the season but he will decide after training camp.

I think he said they will think about the decision after camp. But last year it was WAY To early to name a captain after camp.

I think its more of a timing decision. I think they've already decided to the captain but are waiting for hockey camp to start. What's the point of telling the player now (on his Vacation) that he's the captain.. media frenzy. Let the person have his break.

Hal Gill, extend his contract another year ... Snipers shouldn't be captain (cammy , gio).

The next in line for me would be Gorges.

In 4-5 years from now - PK Subban.

Agree. But i think they could (if they are sure already) just name him about 2-3 days before the start of training camp. To have one already in place for when everyone arrives the first morning.

I'm hoping it's Gorges. CBC's Inside Hockey feature on him was really touching and inspiring.

Gionta is also a great candidate and Captain Cammy has a nice ring to it... but Gorges is my #1 pick.
