IMO it's the Martin effect. Just look at Moen's PIMs after becoming a Hab. 2 of his fights came in the first game of the season.

Stewart's first game against the Leafs was CLASSIC. The rest, not so much.

No room on Team Pacifist for a player like Stewart.Get ready to drop em Gomez/Subban.Once O'Byrne and Moen are hurt fighting the likes of Boogaard or Shelley....your our next line of toughness....lol.

I can't believe there are some here actually upset he's gone. As if he provided anything. If you want toughness that can be effective, look at Travis Moen. Instead, letting Stewart walk is part of a grand pussification project? Get real, he ****ing sucked.

Strangest thing ever. He showed more fire in one game than the rest of the entire Habs roster that we had at the time. But we never saw that Stewart ever again. In one game he looked like Dale Hunter. The rest, he wasn't even Murray.

Maybe he changed his style because after that one game they sent him down...?

He's a MAB as a forward if you trade the slap shot for a lefty and a righty...

I kinda liked Stewie. He really tried to stick up for his teammates although he wasn't very good at it. He was willing to get his nose dirty too but was pretty lousy in his own zone. I remember one glaring error which seemingly was his demise.

Well anyway, good luck to you Stewie!

My favorite memory of him was when he attacked Steve Ott.

I'm pretty sure there was a problem between Stewart and Martin. Greg probably thought he had an assured spot on the team, I remember last year in training camp that Martin had some harsh word for him.

Yep that was awesome, that totally changed the momentum that game for us... its too bad he couldn't have played like that more often as he could've been a useful player for us.

I'm amused at people who seem to be rather upset. Career AHL'er, or 14th forward in the NHL at best. Ian Schultz will replace him for the Canadiens, if we wanted a player like that.

Yep, he took a penalty by jumping on Ott who was destroying all of our players. The momentum completely changed after and we end up winning that game.

His first game against the Leafs is hart to forget aswell. He was all over the ice and gave McCabe what he deserve at the end of the game.
