Batista wants Lashely and then Lesnar..

Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Dave Batista started a two-day training stint with the Cesar Gracie camp Wednesday after Strikeforce helped facilitate the connection with the potential signee and the noted California gym.

Gracie told Sherdog.com that Batista arrived this afternoon and is working technique drills with Nick and Nathan Diaz, Jake Shields and Gilbert Melendez in the Cesar Gracie gym in Lodi, Calif.

“We’ll see how it goes,” Gracie said. “If he wants to fight, we’ll get him going.”

Strikeforce is negotiating with the multi-time Wrestlemania headliner to try his hand in MMA. A long-time fan of the sport, who has reportedly trained at the Affliction training facility in Los Angeles, Batista began talks with Strikeforce last month after ending a lucrative eight-year run with the WWE. Batista said in interviews that he had become disillusioned with the industry and has pursued film acting.

Gracie said the connection started with Batista training partner Imani Lee, who fought on the same Dream 14 card as Nick Diaz in May.

“Nick and Imani, they started working, talking and working technique and then Imani expressed his desire to come up,” Gracie said.

Batista and Lee tried to contact Diaz for several days after the event, Gracie said, but were unsuccessful. They went to Strikeforce for help reaching Gracie, and the promotion facilitated the connection.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has said he would be interested to see Batista, 41, tested in the MMA cage, and is particularly interested in matching him with another WWE alumnus in Bobby Lashley.

Lashley's barely relevant, but at least he has credentials that predate his sports entertainment career.

What did Batista do before? Oh yeah, jacked cars then did bodybuilding.

I wonder if he saw how Sean O'Haire's combat sports career went.

Jose Canseco wants Lashley and Lesnar too, probably. What happened, did Dancing With the Stars not return Batista's calls? No luck getting a book deal? Someone, please tell this guy to start doing the opposite of what he thinks is a good idea.

lol @ Batista. He couldn't even pull of fake moves properly, what makes him think he could survive against Brock, or any other fighter for that matter?

O'Haire (recorded fights only) is 4-2. While nothing great, it's not the worst record either for someone who didn't have a hell of a lot of training.

This, this, and this.

The carnage that would be left behind if him and Brock got into the cage together would be absolutely disgusting.

His 4 wins came against opponents who had combined records of 9-21.

He gave it a shot, and probably made a few bucks, but lets not confuse that with legitimacy.

Give what? Give him an easy win?

So Batista wants to sign with Strikeforce and fight Bobby Lashley. Then he wants to sign with UFC and fight Brock for the title? Is that correct?

For the life of me I can't find where Batista says that he wants Lashley and then Lesnar. The only thing that even comes close in the OP's link is Coker's comments that he would like to see a Batista-Lashley fight.

Anybody have that clip of him being booed when being introduced at a UFC event? He was sitting in the crowd at one of the UFC 90ishes.

By the way Lashley is fighting some other guy at Strikeforce's upcoming Houston show so he's not fighting Batista, at least not immediately.

Maybe they can bring back Wes Sims for Batista's first match.

with no real background, it's fanciful at best to think that he could handle himself with either guy.

That said, with his size and speed, if he did put in a lot of work, there's no saying he couldn't be a mid ranged guy who isn't great, but has the ability to beat up a decent number of tin cans, and give a little interest to a decent up and coming guy, but still get beat.
