can anyone recommend a good hotel that is fairly cheap and within walking distance? Going for rammstein on the 18th!

from Mike Portnoy's twitter

Quebec City, QUE - 7/9/10 (hmm...we may have a new biggest/best crowd...)

http://twitpic.com/23xc2c

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9qSJ4YLs1E

video of the show

you can see me at 3 seconds in the vid, guy with the red hat. I got to talk with someone who came from Montreal for the gig ... you can see the guy in the vid at 1:01, guy with the curly hair on his friend's shoulders. He was pretty psyched for the show lol! ... It was a lot of fun all along. First time I'm involved in a pit during a DT concert lol!

Pretty awesome. I was at the Ottawa show on July 6th (the previous biggest/best crowd according to Portnoy before Quebec City a few days later ). The show was amazing, along with Iron Maiden. The place in Quebec City looked insane, with people sitting all the way up the hill at the back. Wish I was there.

For those of you considering coming to Quebec:

The Festival is sold out. You can't buy tickets anymore.

well you can buy single tickets fer certain shows just not Rush, Black Eyed Peas nor Rammstein. For the rest you can buy a ticket for a single evening.

I went to see Passion Pit tonight. Excellent show. Seriously recommend the band to anyone.

song The Reeling, my favorite of theirs

lil speech given by Bruce Dickinson, which I thought was really awesome live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDeRZJ53luk

when Bruce said the heart of Metal in North America and Canada was here in Quebec, the crowd really went nuts

The setup for McCartney was not the same as the FEQ setup (as much people behind the scene as in front). Also, on St-Jean-Baptiste, the show setup is the same but there are people scattered everywhere around so it can go up to 250 000. If the figure for Iron Maiden of 80000 is good, then the current site can hold about 110-120 thousand at full capacity. There were 150 000 passes sold.

Yesterday was the Black Eyed Peas concert.

I've never seen such a crowd in my whole life. There was way more people than the 100 000 capacity. Celine Dion or Paul McCartney didn't attract that much people. They blocked the entrance gate one hour before the group's appearance but the fence collpased at one place and many more people entered on the site. There was also a big crowd behind the scene. Unfortunately, they don't tell the numbers anymore. They don't want to hurt those who don't do well.

Here's a picture:

Bottom of the pic is behind the scene.

Some says it will be the same thing for Rammstein tomorrow. We'll see!

I've heard that too but I don't think Rammstein has the same cross over appeal that BEP has. The thing going for Rammstein is that it's the closing show, so it might help attendance wise, but I doubt there will be as many people as there were at BEP.

yeah the crowd there was crazy. Great picture as well but I think McCartney did attract at least the same number, maybe more.

BTW, saw Patrice Bergeron and Steve Bégin in the crowd last night.

There was a lot of kids at the BEP and they don't need the bracelet to get in. It won't be the same for Rammstein.

The crowd was insane yesterday. I don't really care for the BEP but i'm glad I didn't miss it.

For Paul McCartney, there were a lot more people behind the stage.

I was at the show tonight but I leave when the sky fall on our head. Me and my girlfriend were soaked. And I'm not a real big fan of Billy talent so we decide to leave. I'll be there tomorrow for Rammstein and Apocalyptica. Will not miss Rammstein that's for sure. Dont care if there's big storm
