Chara is untouchable as far as the Bruins are concerned.

Hahahahahah

I would LOVE it if Boston traded Chara + for Ryan.

Lets be reality, start actually watching hockey instead of basing your opinions solely off of HFBoards

So the Bruins are going to trade a top 5 defenseman and their anchor (Chara), a useful although overpaid and injury prone #5 (Ference), their #1 center (Savvy), a piece of crap potential 25 goal scorer (Ryder) and a potential lottery pick (I think it's a top 10 for sure) for...

Ryan, Wisniewski, Regehr and Bieksa?

I like Ryan a lot but Wis is meh, Regehr is close to the cliff and Bieksa is truly dreadful in his own end of the rink.

This proposal is a huge fail. I need NFL training camp to start so my football message board gets out of hibernation.

1: Boston underpays unless Toronto is bottom 3 in the league. Could happen, but might not you never know.

2: This leaves the Ducks with a LOT of holes up front. But Lupul won't come back to Edmonton to play again and Blake has minus value. Almost as bad as Souray's contract IMO.

3: I like Robyn Regehr, but the only defensive defenseman who's been worth a first line center(Savard) in the past 20 years is Scott Stevens. I'd take Savard over Iggy. And no, that's not happening.

4: Interesting... a second line forward who's got 1 year left, lazy during the regular season and played his heart out in the playoffs... for a good all around #2 defenseman who's made of glass. Canucks say no. Maybe you could get Sami Salo and a mid round draft pick for Ryder instead.

Congrats! You failed!

So salary cap doesn't apply to Anaheim because... of specialness?

Someone is dreaming...

Lets start with the first horrible move that will never happen.

Mike Ryder for Kevin Bieksa

Let see, Bieksa is viewed as an asset, he makes less money than Ryder and the 'nucks are looking to clear salary. Ryder is plain and simple a salary dump. A contract the 'nucks would bury. If you want to do this deal, include Boston's 1st + a prospect. Note i asked for more value than Bieksa because Ryder, to us (and probably most of the league), has negative value!!!

Jason Blake, Joffrey Lupul & Andrew Ference for Sheldon Souray & Andrew Cogliano
So what's this... salary dump from 1 team for more salary dump on the other? Also don't forget Ference was just resigned not too long ago. Sign and trade just don't happen in the real NHL. They only happen in NHL 10 (and i thought EA was fixing that too lol). Lupul failed once in Edmonton too so unless they are copying the Flames model of giving failures a 2nd chance, they don't want Lupul.

Zdeno Chara, Andrew Ference & Toronto's 1st for Bobby Ryan & James Wisniewski
So what happens here... Boston kills their defense that's already not all that deep and gives up a top 5 pick for Ryan? I doubt they have any interest in trading Z who will likely resign there @ a hometown discount. Makes no sense to trade him now. Lets not forget h has a NTC so i doubt he wants to move. Wisniewski has value, not saying he doesn't but his value isn't close to what Z brings to Boston. On top of that, this trade doesn't even fix Boston's salary cap issues for next season as they get back virtually the same amount as they trade away (basically 8mil+ return for 9.7mil traded away, not even close to enough for Wheeler).

Marc Savard for Robyn Regehr
Value wise, i say this is the closest trade but Savard will unlikely waive his NTC to go back to Cal. Plus Boston originally wanted a soft trade if it involves Savard and this is anything but a soft trade.

Basically the entire proposal just looks like someone's NHL 10 fantasy.

Ignoring the MANY reasons this would never happen, I will try to put it together in a way that makes more sense for all teams involved.

For the sake of the OP let's say Anaheim did sign Ilya at a cap hit of $10M/yr. I also assume they re-sign Teemu at $2M/yr.

Boston would still need to move someone to make room after this trade, as would Calgary.

Anaheim:
- Robyn Regehr
- Cory Sarich
- BOS 1st-round draft pick 2011

Boston:
- Bobby Ryan (RFA)

Calgary:
- Marc Savard
- Jason Blake
- James Wisniewski (RFA)
- Andrew Bodnarchuk (RFA)

This is an Anaheim lineup I could live with:

Matt Beleskey ($0.666m) / Kyle Chipchura ($0.650m) / Troy Bodie ($0.500m)
Aaron Voros ($1.000m) / Todd Marchant ($1.125m) / George Parros ($0.875m)
Jason Jaffray ($0.500m)

From Boston pov, I'd that deal in a heartbeat.
