If that was true, why didn't he sign with Atlanta when they offered 10 years / $100mil? I can't imagine any scenario where NJ offered more than that...

Time to move on.
Seriously guys, Kings are my #2 team and I was absolutely rooting for Kovy to go elsewhere. His salary would have ruined this team, and Dean did the right thing by not allowing it. Instead of being bummed out, laugh at Jersey, they are going to pay for this for years.

Yep...which is why I always laugh when I hear "I just want to win...it's not about the money".....yeah. Right.

Can't say that I'm surprised. Players like to stay in the East. He was just using the Kings as leverage with NJ.

I hate to say it but I did. aND i WILL SAY IT AGAIN!

The longer the process takes of trying to sign Kovy the odds are he won;t sign at all in LA.

Pure LOGIC.

He loves to play for la? Maybe? But money was more important bottom line...

IF THIS IS ALL TRUE!!!

Guy is a TOP PLAYER in this league. You can only low ball a superstar so much before the ego says eff you and moves on.

Every other GM would have pulled the deal off. Unless it's a 8.5-9M cap hit, Dean failed miserably.

Some of you need to get out of the house more often if this is upsetting to you. Seriously. One day you will realize that this is a good thing for the Los Angeles Kings. Well, maybe not...

Lets wait for the terms. If it's something Dean could have done, be pissed.

I feel he really did want to come here... Only not for a lifetime deal this early... Nor should he have to...

We had a poll about this way back when. How'd you do?

Will Kovy be a King?

When does the moratorium begin?

I hope we offer sheet Parise an absurd contract next year, purely out of principal

Time to call my rep and officially cancel. I was holding out hope and maybe switch to a 10-game plan, but since it's clear that this team will only be marginally better, if it all, i'll just get $20 tickets off stubhub for a few games.

No, what most of you don't understand is that this team will regress.. It's sad to say, but most of the guys on the team know that Kovalchuk was an option but now that we'll have to settle for 2nd option guys, they'll all be disappointed..

Simon Gagné for Justin Williams sounds like a good swap, doubt it happens but DL better make a move soon or else fans will be super pissed..

I said JUST about money.

Obviously money isn't the only factor, but it is a factor. As it should be. I don't blame him. We can't really criticize Dean until we find out what he offered.

Curious to see the numbers considering NJ's cap predicament. Time to get Doughty, Johnson and Simmonds all locked up now.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise...

I had a bad feeling thinking about this on the way to work this morning.

Not sure what my reaction is yet. I'll wait to see the contract details...
