Let's check it out. According to CapGeek:

Cap space: 4,198,334

Kovy's 17 year 100 mil contract: 5,882,352

Overall: +1,684,018

MINUS Rolston, White, Langenbrunner (10,862.500)= -9,178,482

PLUS Kaberle's contract: (4,250,000) = a total of 4,928,482 after all is said in done left in cap space.

With him signing I am concerned who is going to be shipped out, if it ends up being a player like Parise I think I might flip out. I do not think any team with take any of the over priced vets on the team other then salvador, I think there is a market for him.

Also, does this signing feel like Kovy couldn't get what he wanted in LA so he settled on the next best thing?

Dude. What is wrong with you? You're acting like JimEIV but at least we know Jim likes to do the opposite of what 99% of the posters do here. What's your excuse for being such a debbie-downer?

I don't think it makes any sense not playing Elias-Arnott

It also doesn't make any sense noyt playing Parise-Zajac

It also doesn't make any sense playing Kovalchuk on the 3rd line...

So what do you do?
Why can't Elias play RW?

Why move a guy from LW, when he has been one of the best at that position?

Well if it truly is 17 years $100M = $5.88M cap hit
7 years $60M = $8.57M cap hit

I believe it's most likely 7 years at the 8.57 given the comparables around the league.

Ball pits are just toilets filled with brightly colored balls instead of water.
