They also still have that goaltending problem.. I don't know, we need a top 4 defenseman, Flyers fans don't want to give up Carle because of his relationship with Pronger, I'd love to have Coburn.. Coburn + Hartnell or Carter for Quick ++
The Flyers seem content with Leighton and Boucher in net. They'll dump Carle on somebody like they dumped Gagne today. Now that kovalchuk has signed in NJ you'll probably see some more dumps in the next few days as teams begin to shuffle their rosters.

johnson + schenn + possibly more.. its highly unlikely this will ever happen...

you guys are stuck between a rock and a hard place... it depends how badly you guys want to win a cup... the kings team isn't good enough to win a cup as is but you guys wont mortgage your future.. unless you guys pay for a quality player (highly unlikely - ex. Kovalchuck) or trade your assets to acquire one (schenn etc..)... my guess is you guys continue to on the same path and will continue to be a playoff team for the foreseeable future yet never win.. you have to give to get and the kings don't seem they want to do that anytime soon.. seems to me kings brass are content with playoffs only... just my 2 cents...
All of what you wrote seems to be very conceivable, but it is odd how things workout sometimes. Look at the Cup winning Ducks for example, who really didn't have a Kovalchuk or a star loaded roster of forwards. That team was built from the backend with Pronger and Niedermayer.

I think Lombardi has laid out the foundation with Doughty and Johnson on the blueline and Quick and Bernier in net. Up front he has Kopitar, Brown, Simmonds and a number of untested rookies who have yet to prove themselves as prospects who may be considered core players in the future.

The assets are there for the Kings to extend an offer sheet to Bobby Ryan, or, they can discuss the possibility of a trade after tendering an offer sheet.

Now that I look at it, the offensive ability of this team as it stands, are flat-out pathetic.

Kopitar: 30+
Smyth: 20+
Brown: 20+
Simmonds: 20+
Handzus: 20
Stoll: 15
Williams: 25(w/o injury)
Parse: 15
Richardson: 15
Doughty: 16(same as last year)
JJ: 10+

196 goals from your top 11 offensive players, that's sad.

I wouldn't mind getting Carle dumped on us lolol or Coburn, either way the Kings are in desperate need of a top 4 defenseman.. Imagine we had selected Alzner instead of Hickey and Myers instead of Teubert, but that's another story for another day..

Doughty-Myers
Alzner-Johnson
Scuderi-Greene
Voynov

And Frolov 30+ assuming he isn't shoved onto a 3rd line...oh wait...

well you get the picture.
JJ and Simmons are replaceable. I don't know why this organization thinks they are the answer to a cup winning team.

Nevermind the fact that the Ducks will match any offer. Why would Bobby Ryan sign a deal with the Kings and not the Ducks? I thought the reason he wasn't signing was because of term (he wants a deal that takes him to UFA and Ducks want a year or two of UFA eaten up).

Sharp is the next best option at forward. I'd also like to see Mitchell signed to a 1-year deal.
If not, then I guess we better pray for a God-like season from Bernier.

This deal has been talked about alot. dallas really wants to give up Ribiero rather than Neal and have Benn center the second line with Morrow and somebody.

Neal would cost alot. Enough to change dallas's strategy probably Simmonds (a much needed right shot) and Hickey or the russian defenseman Voynov(who is suppose to be just as good?) otherwise the deal is to wait until they have money.

I still think we can get Savard for Stoll +, Hemsky for Williams Tuebert and pick, and.....yes I will take grief for this one Simmonds and Hickey for Schenn or more realistic Moller D prospect and pick for Kaberle. We can get better.

Some grief? I wish I could channel all of the Kovy frustration right onto your head for suggesting Simmonds and Hickey for Kaberle.

I love your other suggestions but not every team is looking to get ****ed, the Flyers were just horny.

Ok, thanks. So no deal.

What do you mean with Sturm?
