I like how you enumerated all of Paul Holmgren's successes in the middle of your post.

You used English slang that Americans don't understand.

I told you to speak English.

In addition, explaining jokes kills all humo(u)r.

Do people really think Walker is about to get waived? Even Sam Donnellon reported it as if it was a forgone conclusion but I can't see that happening. The way Homer was talking about him it certainly seems like he's a part of our top 7.

The hockey coverage in this city is so bad. Donnellon's whole piece was about us having financial flexibility now, when in reality with this move (and others i.e. Meszaros) we've taken on a lot more money beyond this year which will hurt our flexibility with Carter, Giroux etc.

The Flyers will never put a veteran in the AHL for 3 years. They gave up assets to give Gauthier a shot to play in the NHL again.

I dotn see any reason why Powe should be brought back. That being said Shooter will just let him walk and not even get 6th rd pick as he is to lazy to make any calls at this point. I also for some reason dont see them waiving cote as your not going to find many players making 550k. Besides he is a good soldier and the lockeroom loves him. They have a splintered room right now and cant afford to let Cote go. There is no doubt he will make one more stupid move before the season.

forgot to add, he will sig Brashear once he is bought out of his Ranger contract

Yep, if it was his last year they may. Then again i will nto be shocked to see them do that then lose him on recall and have his dead cap hit for 6 years. He is fine as #6 dman really. I have no problem with that, however as we all know a #6 dman dont and shouldnt not get get 1.7mm a year unless a hotshot rookie yoru breaking in. How does this GM make the same mistakes year after year? Yet no one tells him. No way in the world Clarke as any insight or offers any opinion at least imo. Clarek was very savy.

Exactly. Which is why I was so annoyed by Donnellon's column. How could he possibly think we would waive him? Why would Homer trade for a guy, talk him up like he did, then just waive him? If we had any intentions of doing so, it would have been done immediately liek Detroit did with OKT.

Recall waivers would just burn the Flyers for half his salary this season. Then the new team would be responsible for the rest.

I say we trade ALL of our Forward crop for D-Men. Homer loves D. If he were on Sesame Street, it'd be the letter of the day - "D"

I say our line look like this.

Pronger - Carle - Timmo
Mez - Shelly - Coburn
Walker - Cote - O'Donnell
Kaberle - Barts - Bieska

What a gorup! That would be AWESOME.

*sigh*

Nodl has always been known for his defensive game, in the USHL and in college. He's a very versitile player, but i think he got a little overwhelmed in his first stint with the flyers and tried to do way too much. he was concentrating on being an offensive presence and got away from what made him valuable in the first place, which is his forechecking, hitting and his reasonably solid defensive play. I think he's realized that it's these traits that will make him valuable to the big club, and i think he's going to become a very reliable presence on the 3rd or 4th line.

I wonder who would win....a team of 100% defenseman or a team of 100% forwards.

If Bartulis and Boucher go down to the AHL that gives us roughly 2.5 in cap space, which should be more then enough to sign Turco.

Holmgren will trade Carle, Bartulis and a 2011 1st to the Rangers for Wade Redden
Then he will trade Kimmo Timonen, Coburn and a 2011 3rd to the Leafs for Jeff Finger and Mike Komisarek
Then he will realize he is way over the Cap and he will trade Jeff Carter to TB for Adam Hall and a 2011 7th rounder

I think Turco is going to sign somewhere for ~1.5 mil.

He'll add Giroux and flip the TBay 4th to make it even out for such a great "warrior".

Honestly, I have no idea what the next move will be, and it scares me that more damage could be done. If Holmgren doesn't watch out, he might start challenging Mike Milbury's legacy.

Donnellon is a stuttering librarian that needs to get back to his reference catalogs. The few times I watch DNL, the other panelists just ignore anything he says, when he does actually complete a sentence. Clueless.
