And whose fault is that?

I agree, I'm not saying he's completely innocent but we are all Ducks fans here and this is a place where should all be able to come and talk about the team we love without getting dumped on.

I love Dirk. He makes these boards interesting. Even if I don't agree with him sometimes.

Definitely the best threads are those ericnut vs. dirk battles.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a tough team. Some of you people have forgotten what it was like back in the 90's when Ducks were taken over the barrell every night.

Dirk remembers it and never wants to see teams like that again.

There's nothing wrong with wanting talent, either. I think a guy like dirk may have also forgotten what it was like back in the 90s when the dynamic duo had more skill than the rest of the skaters combined. Toughness was far from the only problem on those teams, using them as a barometer to anything now isn't the fairest solution.

And the ideal situation is to have balance. 07-08 was a big reminder about how being the league's toughest team can really come back to bite you in the ass.

Nope, the other NY GM is pretty nice to. Look at his trades (Chara etc). signings (Yashin, DiPietro), he`s pretty nice one to. Don`t know if he`s still working there, though.

I`m pretty sure we would be able to trade Eminger and 7th rounder for Tavaras and Okposo together.

Sadly, Mike Milbury (the one who made those deals, save for the 15 year DiPietro contract) has been gone, so we can't make those deals anymore. However, you forgot his Luongo deal, which I felt was his true "masterpiece".

I dont mind the remarks

contrary to popular belief my favorite player is not an enforcer it is Teemu Selanne and i dont want the entire team filled with enforcers. However i do want the team that i watch to stick up for each other, punish opposing players in front of the crease, agitate other teams, throw big hits and have a good balance of offensive and in your face players. Pepper is a great poster here and made the correct point about those pathetic Pierre Gauthier teams. It was filled with cowards who played scared. Who in the hell wants a team like that again?

You see here's the problem. We do have the talent here for the most part. A guy like Zaborsky will most likely never see NHL icetime because he has to be a top6 player which he isn't. McCue is someone who could be a decent 3rd-4th liner.

I much, MUCH rather have toughness over marginal skill players on Ducks bottom 2 lines.

I don't see either Zaborsky or McCue making the NHL tbh...
