If you were at a Flyers/Lightning game and Gagne scored and you heard this, would you cheer? Do you think the crowd would cheer? I was just thinking about this.

Without a doubt, a standing O from me. I have every intention of buying tickets to the first home game against TB since I won't have my season tickets this year.

I'll be at that game on October 14th. And wearing my Gags jersey.

112%. 100% for Gags and the 12% out of spite for Paul "Years Down The Road People Will Find out I'm Legally ******** a la Brick In Anchorman" Holmgren.

Edit: Lou Nolan's goal calls for Gagne were my absolute favorite. Nothing better. I'll sigh to myself when he inevitably announces it as a normal visitor's goal.

I voted other: Depends on the game situation.

Did he just win the game for Tampa in OT? If so, then I'd struggle with it.
Did he just score with 10 seconds left to go to win or tie it? Same.
Did he score in the first or second period, when the Flyers are up by a couple of goals? Then hell yeah, I'd cheer for him.

Regardless of all of this, I'd be cheering my head off for him during warmups and when they announce his name at the beginning of the game (hoping the powers that be in Tampa have the smarts to start Gagne on his first trip to Philly).

No, he'll get applauded when introduced, and if there is some sort of on screen recognition for his career as a Flyer I will absolutely stand and applaud that.

See, knowing how I'd have felt at the time of the deal, the context of the fiasco, and Holmgren's disastrous history in general, my cheering would be unconditional. If anyone in the building had a problem with it I'd tell them kindly to suck it.

If he's mentioned in the starting lineup, absolutely.

A goal against. Well, let's get our priorities straight. No chance in hell. I'll always love him for his dedication to the Flyers, but he is no longer a Flyer.

This is the same crowd that awarded Umberger a hattie...

They'll applaud no matter what.

It's also a very early game in the season. That matters too.

I voted yes because I've always loved Gagne but it might be hard. At the Phillies vs Twins game I cheered when Thome hit that homer a few weeks ago because the phills were up like 5 but I wasnt cheering when The twins came back and won in extra innings.

Technically that would be Gagne launching a slapper right at Homer's head.

Similar feelings here, I wouldn't be able to cheer for a game changing goal against us no matter who scores us. That being said, I'll be watching a ton of Lightning games this year just to see Gags in action. I hope he has a 100 point season (I also hope Paul Holmgrem catches a deadly disease, is forced to step down, and then is magically cured but left unable to resume his "duties").

Also, I'll be scouring local sporting goods stores in the coming days and buying every Gags item I see on a clearance rack.

This.

I would applaud for an introduction or something like that, but once the game starts, that's the end of that for me. I mean I really like Gagne, and I always will, and it was crappy what happened to him. But I was a Flyers fan long before Gagne came into the picture, and I'll be a fan long after he has been gone and established elsewhere, and I won't ever cheer for a goal that's scored against us. At the end of the day, it's all about the logo on the front.

No reason to boo Gagne. It's not his fault he's no longer part of the Flyers. Someone else should be taking the brunt of the fans frustration and ire.

Seeing how Paul Holmgren isn't on the ice I'll be booing Jeff Carter. I'm stunned that his lazy, vanishing in big games ass is still on the team. He should have been the one to go. A player like Simon Gagne is the one who gets dealt instead. Why? All because of terrible mismanagement. Thanks a bunch Paul.

Yes! That is exactly what these moves make me think of. Well done my friend, well done. Can I steal that idea for an Avatar? Homers new nickname at least for me is "Brick."

I was thinking about this earlier, actually.

It's hard right now, because Gagne is a favorite and all that, and it's the offseason and nothing is going on, but at least for me, when October rolls around and Matt ******* Walker is wearing an orange sweater and Gagne isn't...

No contest.

I'd never boo him, but I wouldn't cheer him for a goal that kicked the **** out of the Flyers either.

Michal Handzus still gets cheered.

The Flyers will have a video board for him, and he'll get a standing O regardless if he does anything in the game.

It depends on the situation. Gagne will get a mighty cheer when he skates onto the ice for the first time. A goal earlier in the game rather than a deciding tally would get a more receptive response; however, still, a tie-breaking late goal or OT goal will have its share of support from the home crowd though my guess is it would reflect the minority opinion.

As mentioned: Umberger. Also, though there are other examples, Brian Propp scored his 1,000th career point against the Flyers in Philly, though not his initial return. There was a smattering of boos for obvious reasons (it was an ENG and sealed the win for Hartford) but then Lou Nolan announced it was Propp's 1,000th career point and he got a fine cheer.

Cheers during lineups is very different from cheers after a GA.
