Which team will you take? (Canadiens or Lightning)

If we're in dreamland, would you rather have The Montreal Canadiens or The Montreal Lightning?

Rosters + Prospects + Coach + GM

Very hard to say considering neither team has hit the ice. Hard to determine which team you want on paper.

Each team has their flaws. I see a lot of people choosing the lightening because they have a better top 6 and we all know how much people love offense, but taking a look deeper into their roster, D core, bottom 6 and goaltending, hard to make a decision as to which a person would prefer.

Canadiens, obviously... Why would I pick a team that just lost Matt Walker?!

We beat the Washington Capitals. a team with offensive firepower and no D and average goaltending

Wait

That sounds a lot like the TB Lightning !

At this rate, the Lightning will become the Montreal Canadiens.

Seriously, Stevie-Y, stop poaching from our team.

If you are asking which roster I would rather have it would be TB.

Stamkos/Hedman - pretty obvious.

A certain Stamkos made me doubt a little while. But I think they have flaws too.
How can I say no to the smurfs after a full year of getting to know them ?

Easy, the team that's actually made the playoffs in recent years.

Tampa has a solid core they just have to build around it. They have a much better group of fowards than us, especially in terms of goalscoring. Which team has more upside? I think everyone can agree them. If Ellis gives them half decent goaltending than they should make the playoffs. If I was Tampa, I might go ahead and sign a guy like Sutton.

who the 2004 cup winners

Anyways I take Montreal's roster. TB has the better offense but is pretty mediocore on defense and goaltending

History + 24 cups, what?

Close the poll before you humiliate yourself more.

Dunno if it's sad, but P could dress up youpi and stick him in ets and I<d still watch//buy tickets. This city bleeds red white and blue, not black and blue (ok... maybe one week end a year )

edit: you talking about rosters, or franchise at large?

I'll take the team that doesn't have to share it's profits with the other team to keep it afloat.

Yzerman is appealing, and his staff. I think they will be proactive and entertaining. And Yzerman will probably be able to lure free agents and so on based on his notoriety/charisma.

The Bolts also have cap space. In Tampa Bay, I guess they have an internal cap that will keep them below? But as the Montreal Lightning, that cap space becomes usable. Anyway, the Bolts have ample cap space to spruce up their bottom-6 forwards and end up looking as good as/better than the Habs in that department, so I wouldn't hold that against them.

In goal... well, we're better *IF* Price steps up the way we think he can. But that's not proven yet.

I like the Habs' prospects better.

Stamkos and Hedman are probably reasonable reasons to take the Bolts. I wouldn't begrudge anybody choosing in either direction, really.
