This is why Homer traded for Matt Walker

After watching this, I gained a lot of respect for Walker. I still hate Homer for making the trade but now I'll try to keep Walker off of my s**t list for being somewhat badass.

I dont know if this has been posted or not yet so if it has, delete away.

Yawn. OK, so he is badass. He still sucks and is overpaid. No offensive ability, mediocre skater. Tampa might have actually given us the fourth rounder just to get rid of Walkers contract.

Pretty cool video. Dude seems tough and I won't hold the trade against him.

I gotta say, as much as I hate the directions Holmgren has gone this off season, there is just something about a guy fighting for your team.........I think it's underestimated on these boards what it does for the momentum of the star players too, IMO

How come Walker didn't get 9 minutes in penalties?

I guess because Refs love to hate Carcillo, and Walker wasn't playing a team with Ovechkin in it?!

Ovechkin was suspended that game.

Not impressed, I mean good for Walker, but not at this expense. He's not the only defenseman in the league who fights and blocks shots.

In an article posted by DingBatHero it said that he doesn't fight that often because of his hand.

and trading Walker, who, with his bum hand showed toughness more in grit than fighting.

It's like it's not even worth winning games unless you can win fights.

Which is hilarious, because Laviolette only wants his guys to fight when only absolutely necessary. Not on a whim.

True.....Why employ Lavi, then fill his team with goons?!

It's like Holmgren is testing him or something

Would you trade Gagne for Laperriere?....and Laperriere is 5 times the badass this guy is.

I do have respect for Walker, but not for Homer. At least we have 2 playoff warriors or whatever they're called

They have conflicting philosophies in the long run. There's going to be a point where Laviolette is going to pay for Holmgren's mistakes, and we're all just going to get irate and pissed off all over again. The team played Pittsburgh much better when they weren't worried about proving how much tougher they were and winning the fights.

gotta agree its like Homer is taking all the tools away from Lavy, and then expecting him to pick right up were he left off..

cant say i understand Homer at all so far, but my faith as a Flyersfan is unwavering..

regardless of whos on the ice, i'll be yelling at my TV as loud as i can come the first game..

Orange and black foreva..

Lets just hope that Holmgren pays for Holmgrens mistakes before Lavi has a chance to!!!

I'm still trying to get you guys to protest for Holmgren to be fired outside Wachovia this year!!! Anybody fancy it?!

The point of the thread was just that I'm not going to hold it against Walker like I know a lot of people here will. It's ok though, go ahead and hijack it to make it about Homer. Isn't there already a thread for that?

This is refreshing.....I've read so many Gagne threads & Shelley threads recently, I'm about 7 more posts away from doubting if the Flyers will make the post-season

Oh wait.......................

Sorry

Back to topic, no way should Walker, or Shelley for that matter receive any abuse or ill feeling from the Flyers fans. There is only one person for that.......But that is for another thread

That's going to be life as Matt Walker, sadly. He's unlikely going to get his fair shake

i hear ya...

i'm willing to let every new player (this includes Leighton) start with a fresh slate and go from there as far as a hero or bum..

i gotta beleive Homer has some info that all us arm chair generals dont.. no way he could hold his position making some of these decisions if there isnt something going on behind clsed doors we dont know of.

It'd be great to have Walker if we signed him as a free agent or if we traded a mediocre prospect for him, but we traded a 25+ goal scorer and a phenomenal defensive winger for the younger version of Jason Smith. I'm really surprised we couldn't receive a strong prospect for Gags.
