Waive Cote. Send Shelley and Carle for Panik and a 4th or for a conditional 2nd (if we suck, we gets ours that we traded when we got Meszaros, if they suck, we get theirs).
Didn't he go unbeaten for like 22 games last year, and any other starting goalie in the league is an upgrade imo !
Yeah, with Washington scoring how many goals a night?
I'd say Theodore is like Biron but more extreme. Flashes of brilliance, periods of absolute suckitude, and a tendency to make terrible puck-handling decisions.
He'd put up better numbers here than in DC, but that's because we have defensemen, whereas Washington has only Mike Green up in the slot and five pylons running around.
I think Theodore would do very well here. Then again, Leighton might win a cup with this defence...maybe thats Homer's plan. Just like Reed and the lack of a runningback theory!
I think we have too much money invested in the goal tending position. We waive Boucher and sign Manny Legace to a three year deal at $800K per, saving $50K off the cap. Then we package a second round pick in 2012 with Leighton to get rid of his contract, and start negotiating with Patrick Lalime.
Jose Theodore's record is a reflection of his goal support. He's the anti-Roy Halladay (Phillies' fans will catch my drift). Turco is the best available option.
You know something we don't? Reports state that the Flyers will waive Walker. We had to take his contract to move Gagne.
considering Shooter said Walker will "solidify" the defense find it hard to believe he will be waived. Waiving him isnt how the flyers operate. If he had 1 year left maybe they might.
Show me 1 report that says they will waive him as dotn recall seeing that anywhere.
He is referencing Sam Donellon's article. He said we would waive him but....like most hockey coverage in this city, it's complete BS.
Why would Homer make it a point to talk about Walker "solidifying" our defense if we were just going to waive him?
Also, when is the last time we buried a guy in the minors? And how about for 3 years? The last time it almost happened (Gauthier) we paid someone a 2nd round pick to take him, because we wanted to be nice.
If we had any intentions of waiving him, we would have done so immediately (think Detroit and OKT) and not had a press conference praising him.
It would be "mind bottling" for us to waive him. Not happening barring unforeseen circumstances.
The departure of Gagne's $5.2 million salary gives the Flyers wiggle room now, or what is likely the case, down the road. About $2.75 million once they officially make Matt Walker a Phantom, as much as $3.85 million if the services of Oskars Bartulis and Riley Cote also are unneeded.
pure specualtion is all that is, much liek syaign he wotn be waived. Yeah from all reports, you find one non hockey guy making a comment about soemthign he clearly has no clue about.

But there's a difference between informed and uninformed speculation. Is there a chance Walker is waived? Yes. There is a chance anyone is waived, but there's no reason to believe he actually will be waived based upon the way we've dealt with this situation in the past, combined with how Homer appears to feel about Walker.
I agree, send down WALKER... not Barts - he is young and has shown improvement, which I hope translates into more of that.
That was the joke part hence the smiley.
Keeping Walker only means one of 3 things: (1) another D is going to be traded or waived, (2) we're investing at least a million+ in players that are going to be scratches due to unnecessary signings/trades, or (3) we're going to use a D as a forward/dress a 7th D.

what do the flyers have like 45%(giv eor take) of their cap space invested in the D? That is comical.
