RDS just joined the bandwagon. They said if Habs would have really wanted Gagné, they could have put a player with big salary on waivers or imitates the NJD (with Kovy) and sign Gagné in a super long term deal. They also criticized the organization for lacks of imagination Yeah, I'm sure RDS crew are more competent than the Habs organization. What a bunch of incompetents those guys are.

How the hell is that even doable when he still has a year left on his contract unless they meant to sign him to an extension and even then that wouldn't fix our current cap problems.

If that means that the Nordiques are going to grab every leftovers that happen to be french that GMs are offering I'm sure the people will be thrilled to pay 125$ on a bottom feed team. Anyway, I highly doubt the arrival of a new franchise in Quebec will have a major impact on the Canadiens' attendance.

You're kidding right?
What happened to best fit / best player?
What happened to durable players (as was the comment made during last year's ufa period)?
So a francophone becomes available, doesn't mean he's a fit, doesn't mean we should sign him
I Have a Dream (yes , total reference to martin luther king)
where one day politics, language and the agendas of the down-trodden will not exist in sport.
Or, at least for the Montreal Canadiens.

You will be dreaming for a long long time since Le Club de Hockey Canadiens was founded to please the francophone population against the MOntreal Maroons which was english Montreal team

Nazi Germany also threw Jews into concentration camps and Black people used to have to sit in designated parts of public transit... I can go on all day with terrible racist and bigotted hatred we've seen in the last century..
Just because the team was founded for this reason, doesn't mean it still stands today in 2010.
Its a business today
get over it
owned by Molson not dandurand
and driven by the almighty dollar
btw, new president incoming Molson
outgoing Boivin
new coach bulldogs cunneyworth
outgoing boucher
2 quebecois on the roster as Pouliot is from Ontario
I'd be more pleased with winning and less pleased politicking
and apparently molson just may feel the same way as well
So let's see, the team might've said no for various reasons:
- He is injury prone
- His cap hit is rather high
- Would occupy a spot in the roster management would rather give to a prospect/young player.
NO! They said no because he IS francophone and management wants to piss off the fan base.

How about sending the lazy bum Kostitsyn back to the minors...then you would have cap space
I'm curious how you'd feel about Gagne if his name was Gagnerovski, or if Kostitsyn was Constantin.. seriously, separatist bigots like you give the people of Quebec a bad rep worldwide... get a life.

So more winning and less politicking means less francos (or more accuratly, no francos) and more anglos. Just like the rest of the NHL.
I really don't get all the people cheering at the decreaser number of francophones in this organisation. Can't your just pick one of the 29 other teams?

I wonder how YOU would feel about Gagné if his name was Gagner or Gagney.
Racist bigots like you should get a life.
And please go cheer for one of the 29 other teams, like the one where you live. Judging from your username, you obviously have a problem with Québécois.

Who is cheering the decreasing number of Quebecers?? Everyone with half a brain on this board agrees: NOBODY GIVES A **** HOW MANY QUEBECERS PLAY FOR THE HABS!
We want a winning team, and most importantly a passionate team. Guys like Subban and Cammy are extremely PROUD to wear the bleu-blanc-rouge, does it matter that they're both from Ontario??? I'll take Cammy's passion over Ribeiro or Tanguay's ethnicity any day of the week. Anyone who thinks otherwise, seriously stop following hockey and join Quebec Solidaire...
