That appears to be the case, check out the thread I started on it yesterday.

Exactly. Don't be surprised if they hold off until August to keep his value lowering.

This is a great signing. They now have 4 full lines, Shelley can be a healthy scratch until they need a fighter, and swap Powe out of the lineup. With Betts out, Shelley can play in his place and it gives the Flyers time to figure out which teams they'll need to use an enforcer/fighter against.

I'm thrilled we signed Powe. I'm a fan, and I think he's a great 4th liner. That and I'm always down for some more Graham Central Station. The day they played it at the stadium when I was there was the greatest day of my life.

I'd rather have someone like Kalinski than Powe.
What is it that you like better about Kalinsky? Is it because he is slower? Or is it because he will score less goals? Or maybe the bigger cap hit? Or the fact he brings zero energy to his line?

His ceiling is most likely the AHL with the odd 10 game stink on the 4th unit. He isn't even a very good AHL penalty killer.

Exactly! Sometimes, I think the negative culture of these boards is what is most important. Clearly, there was no thought put into the insult of powe, just to insult is the point. Powe is an important signing at a better cap hit than I thought.

I can't believe there's people here who honestly believe Shelley is going to be waived.

Thoresen is a useless POS, Powe is a much better player then he is. That is why they signed Powe and left Thoresen to rot over in Europe like he deserves.

Is he just an option in your eyes? I had Turco coming here even before playoffs. As soon as Lehtonen was traded I was hoping for Turco.

Makes me wonder why no team picked him up. Must be a problem there? Even Sharks decided to go with Frank and some guy I've never heard of name Thomas Greiss

Maybe GMs think Marty will pull Beezer? I can not find anything about Truco's situation an dI am pretty sure he did not have any problems in Dallas.

Actually, I liked Shelley in junior, and I don't hate him as a player. He's just overpaid for what he brings to the table. Homer has ****ed up this offseason about as much as he possibly could, and Shelley is just one more piece in the WTF puzzle.
this is pretty much it. ill be fine with him when hes in a flyers jersey, but until then, puzzle piece.

The "casual fan" that will think Shelley will be a fan favorite do not post on message boards and have very little knowledge of the game.

The reason Carcillo is a fan favorite is because he actually has SKILL. He has very underrated hands and has great placement on his shot. In addition, he can knock people out and skates with ton of emotion.

The only thing Shelley will be good for is 3 minutes a game where he coasts around the ice hoping the other team has a heavyweight willing to fight him. If that is the type of player who will be your favorite, kudos to you kind sir.
Turco isn't gonna lead this team to the Cup.

He's got a better chance than Matt Walker or Jody Shelley. I'm not a huge Turco fan, but he is a real goalie. He's old and his best years are behind him. But he is a goalie.

Basically, I just want a ****ing goalie. The same thing I've said for years. Just get a ****ing goalie. A real goalie. I'm almost at the point of begging.

You and Flyersguru should get a nice quiet spot in the woods to punch the clown together.

I don't even know why we have a message board to discuss things when you two could just predict the future of every aspect of the Flyers team.

Now if we sign him this off-season still we won't have a chance at the cup your saying? I still believe we will get him signed because we will have enough cap to fit him on this team once Barty, Cote and Boucher would be gone.

Yes, we lost in the SCF because of Michael Leighton and only Michael Leighton.

Our top line
Carter: 1G, 1A, -6
Richards: 1G, 1A, -7
Gagne: 1G, 1A, -8

That top line was on a milk carton the entire series.

The third pairing was so bad that they couldn't even be put out on the ice.

The forward marking in game 1 was atrocious. How many times did the Flyers leave a man open between the circles?

The energy from the entire team in games 5 was atrocious. They weren't in that game from the drop of the puck.

A must win in game 6 and again they come out flat again. 17 shots against in the first period, the score should have been 3 or 4 to 1. But the only thing people remember is the Kane shot.

Chicago was a good team. They were better then the Flyers.

Got the stats for Chicago's top line? How about we compare them (you know, lines that faced the opposition's top defenders?). I'm pretty sure they're very close to even, and pretty much cancel each other out.

But you keep deflecting the focus away from Leighton, and keep pretending that Leighton is an NHL goalie. The rest of us know better.

Leighton did as well as he could. But when it came right down to it, Leighton at his best just isn't very good. He's not the sole reason Chicago won. But he's not without a share of the responsibility either.
