Does any media outlet outside Calgary blast Sutters asset management?

I genuinelly don't know
Maybe criticize is the wrong word. I mean, does anyone at least question what he is doing? At least mention that the whole offseason plan is a head-scratcher?

I have seen a few "winners and losers" type blogs, but I haven't seen the Flyers on it.

Carter for Thomas makes no sense in the first place anyway. Why would the Bruins want yet another center on their team?

This.

If media outlets are going to start throwing around 'Carter next' rumours, at least make it a realistic destination with a realistic return.

Really don't see Cartz going anywhere, but it will be interesting next Summer......
I truly think there will be huge threads again at this point about how Holmgren screwed up the Carter re-sign and we get low balled

Like how someone offered him $5.75 and we didn't match it cause we wanted to roll with 10 Dmen.

The one thing you learn from this offseason, forget the "names" associated with deals. Do you remember the Gagne deal? We were getting Mike Smith, Ashton Carter, blah, blah, blah. NOBODY knew who was coming back, they were just looking at rosters and making s*** up. In this case, we have four centers, we need a goalie. hmmmm. let me see.....Los Angeles wants Carter, they have a great young goalie in Bernier. Rumour 1. Who else....Boston has Thomas at about the same cap hit with some good young talent. Rumour 2.

Even the legit guys are re-posting the garbage from the non-legit guys in fear of being out-scooped. TSN has posted about 10 things (including Kovalchuk done deal from two weeks ago, Gagne waived NTC, etc) that simply have been confirmed to be inaccurate.

All I know is this; Homer has said, and has ALWAYS said, Carter is not going anywhere, he is not being shopped, etc. Perhaps Boston is interested in Carter and has offered Thomas, but you, me, Homer, Snider and everyone in between knows that is NOT a fair deal and WILL NOT happen.

If a Carter for a goalie trade goes down, I suspect it happens mid season because Leighton has become what everyone fears, a terrible goalie. If that is the case, Giroux or Carter or JVR or our first round pick will be traded for a goalie. Thomas is a likely guy. And since we would have to make room, Leighton would be involved as well as someone in the 4 million range.

Personal feeling: Carter resigns next year, Leighton is fine this year, and my world continues in a blissful state with another deep Stanley Cup run.

You could restock the farm a good deal and get a good replacement player for him. If he wants a ton there's nothing you can do.

But we've solidified our defense, so it's all good.

Why didn't we just move Carter instead of Gagne? Why move both of them???

Move Carter if the offer is insanely in our favor or wait and resign him for his similar cap hit or take the draft picks we will get from compensation.

Carter for Kenopka. That allows the cap space to sign Randy Jones to $3million/year 5 year deal with a NTC.

I wouldn't have a problem moving Carter, but if hes moved for Tim Thomas I'll be pissed - not that Thomas is a bad goalie, but his age, and contract length raise many concerns. Also Bernier wouldn't make much sense at all. I understand hes a very talented goalie prospect, but we already have 3 promising young goalies. If the Flyers really wanted a goalie they probably should have went harder after Halak and signed him for 4 years 15 million like the Blues. That way in the next four years one of our prospects would've been developed and we could trade or not resign Halak, and if none of our prospects developed we could likely just resign Halak.

The Flyers would like to have money freed up for Giroux, JVR, Leino and possibly a goalie.

Carter for Tim Thomas might be the worst trade proposal ever in the history of hf, simply because somewhere, someone is actually taking it seriously.

We're not trading 80 possible goals in one offseason, right?

Right?!

If the rumor is true Homer would be smart to demand additional compensation for having to take on Thomas's horrendous contract - a high round pick would likely do the trick - however, I seriously doubt Homer will have the brains to request an extra pick/prospect.

I wouldn't look at it like that. You have to remember moving Carter and Gagne would free up Giroux, JVR, Zherdev, and Leino to be on the ice more, and the production will likely increase or at worst stay the same.

May God have mercy on us all

I don't really think so though. Even Holmgren couldn't do that I'm sure.

I actually believe the team will go into the season as it is (now it seems Powe has been added) with the remainder of the off season being eerily quiet.....Too quiet infact.

I would still like Turco for 2 years, but I think the final insult of the off season will be to stick, and stop twisting. Cote waived probably, but that would be it.

given carter's recent injuries and length of remaining contract, he would basically be a salary dump. doubt we could get much more than a 4th for him. probably best to just waive his sorry ass.

yeah, **** it.

I'm tired of this stupid team, we might as well just waive The Flyers and hope the Phantoms can step up.

**** yes. he broke both his feet, he's totaled. let's just collect the insurance payment, sell him for scrap, and see if we can get another lightly used Carter for cheap.
