Wow, that's great news for Nashville! Does this mean that he is running from his KHL contract now? lol

My guess is that "next year" means 2011-12, but I'd love to be wrong.

No. This will be his third year in Russia, and his KHL deal was a three year contract. He was a ppg player each year and the MVP this past season. If he returns, he will be on the final year of his entry level deal, and a RFA at the end of that year.

Rady and Kostitsyn on a line

This is great news. Hopefully he learned his lesson and is ready to play some NHL hockey!

thats how i took that message.

still will be nice to have him for a year at less than 1 million and then have him still be restricted, and presumably without arbitration rights since he will just be completing his ELC

Most players must have four years of NHL experience before being eligible for arbitration. The amount of years is reduced for players who signed their first contract after the age of twenty. He won't be eligible.

LOL Rads and Kostitsyn on a line yikes watch out that will be a horrible line lol. I have to ask do you seriously think he would come back ppg player MVP I have a feeling he willhave a larger deal offered to him next year that will change his mind and he will stay in the K. That is just my opinion though.

Do you really have to come in here just to **** on our potential happiness? Seriously, guy. This is the first decent summer we've had as Preds fans in a while. Let us at least hope for the return of one of the few skilled forwards we've ever drafted.

Realistically, he should be set up for life with the KHL contract he's about to finish up. $14 million is a nice chunk of change. If he wants to play with the big boys, he'll be back. I just don't see what else he has to play for there. He'll get a nice raise when he comes back and a chance to play for the Cup. I think in 20 years or so when his career is over we'll find out what really happened here.

Actually they can't offer him a new contract under the IIHF agreement. They orginally gave him a contract before the agreement was signed, now, after this contract is up, he won't be able to sign another as he will still be under an active NHL contract.

That's a point I just mentioned on the trade board that's being lost in the mix. The initial Radulov deal was a sticking point in the transfer agreement between Russia and the USA, initially. Eventually, the agreement was, "Okay, from now on, we won't poach players with valid contracts...but the Radulov deal stands."

Signing a new contract in the KHL would be a violation of that agreement, and would subject Russia to being disqualified from all IIHF tournaments.

I wonder how the KHL would try and counter this? I wonder what would happen if the KHL were to force Radulov to sign a contract and the IIHF says nyet to Radulov to Team Russia?

We think that the NHL would have the best GM's in the world but then we see things like the Gagne trade.

Never underestimate stupid.

Can't Russia just go ahead and go completely broke for a few generations? Between this kind of crap and the Cold War I largely missed I can't stand that country. Oh, and the xenophobia. Can't forget that

Oh how I've missed the eternal dread of habs fans.

He was also limited to the 2nd/3rd line for most of his time with Nashville. (Back when our 3rd line was Radulov-Legwand-Forsberg) (Correct me if i'm wrong, i've slept since then)
We can pretty much assume that he will be getting much more ice time if he comes back.

You're correct. He also played a lot of top line minutes the next season with Dumont and Arnott. For a period of that season we had one of the most productive lines in the league.

We actually have an emoticon for that here...

No, I agree. I've taken the Poile approach...he isn't here until he's here and until he's here, he's not gonna help us so...let's not count on him for anything...

I really don't think we need to worry about that.
