this thread is gonna get ugly/closed.

Anywho.

Pass from Edmonton. I'd rather bury Souray in the minors then get hosed on a guy like Brule that's finally living up to his potential.

Beauchmin and Souray cancel each other out, how long will it take for people to realize how over rated Francois is?

No one on the Leafs roster last year besides Kessel, Kulemin and Phaneuf are worth Brule.

Pass.
Huh?! I think most people outside of the GTA already know this! Big shot, OK offensive upside but ALWAYS caught out of position and has a bad habit of standing around.

Francois Beauchemin is the king when it comes to "pinching", I'll give you that.

Luckily for us Phaneuf doesn't do this and the two make a great pairing, to say he's overrated and not good when at a time he was our biggest minute eater is a bit foolish. *Sure Toronto sucks, but so does Edmonton.

I honestly love Beauchemin as a hockey player, but I'll be the first to tell you that Komisarek is a severely overrated and should not have been signed.

You should be able to get Kaberle too, since Gagne didn't get much, right?

He would be on your current roster. 37 points last season puts him 3rd in terms of point production on your current roster.

Schenn is going to jump 20 points next season?

sorry how are beauch and souray a wash?? would beauch not be claimed if put on waivers, wooo people. brule is a decent hockey player but hes not a top 6 forward. Unfortunately the leafs have tons of bottom 6 forwards so this deal really has no starting point

this looks like a better deal for the leafs. souray wants out but i don't think he wants to be part of another rebuilding process.

why?? souray is not good, injury prone + highly paid and hes a give you cant GIVE away.

and brule is alright but we have enough alright ppl we need a big fish.

beauchy is slightly overpaid, but hes a poor mans souray and is less injury prone.

sjostrom is a great 3rd liner and fairly paid great for the pk and great backchecker

Ryan is adecent prospect that should be traded unless for a big fish.

No it doesn't. We do not need another dman. Specially not one who makes as much as Souray does. We are the last team to want a player like him.

Beauchemin had his share of mistakes last season, but he was still pretty good. He logged huge minutes, and makes a good partner for Phaneuf. Plus, we signed him last year so he isn't getting dealt.

Sjostrom drastically improved our PK and holds more value to us than what we would get for him in a trade. Still can't believe Sutter wanted Mayers in return for him .

Anywho, Brule is nice, but for what we would be giving up, and getting in return (Souray), this deal is not worth it for the Leafs.

Both teams say no.

The creativity on this board is astounding. You must be some kind of comedian to be able to think of a joke about the Kessel trade.

This entire proposal fails. What exactly would the leafs gain by trading anything for Souray? He was waived not too long ago and nobody bothered to pick him up. Including the leafs.

I just don't see Burke trading a FA he signed. Brule could be something, but he'd be too small on an already smallish top 6

Gilbert Brule?!?!?!?.........well I suppose it would make MacLean happy, he could afterall stop saying "I drafted Rick Nash" and start saying "it was me you know, I was the one who had faith in this kid, I drafted him cause I'm smart, Leafs fans all love me"

There isn't a high demand for Souray. He cleared waivers. If someone is taking him on they are unloading something less desirable on the Oil.

I am not a fan of Beauchemin and I really hope he has a better season next year because even though what you wrote is not 100% accurate he did have a lot of flaws and was caught out of position on more then one occasion. But despit all this I still woulden't call him and Souray a "wash".

I don't think the Oilers say yes. They have no spot for Sjostrom in the line-up. Souray will be moved, there are teams who still need a tough shooting d-man. Will Edmonton get much for him? No, but he will be moved in a package deal to a team that could actually use his talents. The Leafs are not a team that can use his talents.
