Wheeler fills Frolov's LW spot (and is his 3rd/breakout year). 6'5 winger incoming from Boston while Voinov's emergence makes this a gimme deal for LA, no? I mean, Hickey seems to have lost a lot of traction with the LA fanbase due to the quick emergence of Doughty, the (eventual) arrival of JJ this past season and Voinov pushing up from below. Boston was very high on Hickey in his draft year and are not going to want to pay Wheeler what he will get in arbitration.
I like Hickey's upside too much. I don't think Wheeler is going to progress much from where he is now. A lot Boston fans seem to be eager to get rid of him.
I think Loktionov is the Kings only legitimate scoring threat within the organization at the moment so I'd be hesitant to give him up. Same with Weal. I'd rather it be Kozun.
I know that Hickey has a lot of potential, but we're talking about a guy who hasn't played one game in the NHL and only 27 AHL games in two years at a position that we're rich in. On the other end, we're getting a guy who's played 163 NHL games in two years and has scored 39 goals at a position that we're deficient in. Makes a whole lot of sense to me, and make no mistake, I think any NHL GM will take the proven young talent over the unproven young talent any day.

Thank-you. It isn't like Wheeler is the slug some of you low-ballin sonsof*****es are making him out to be...
No way I would trade Kozun unless it is a package and a big return coming. Too high on this kid.
A speedy sniper with a nose for the net who can wheel in and out of traffic. This kid is a keeper. He's been told at every level that he's too small, but he gets the job done and the job done well. Reminds me of someone else.

So if this is the case then Boston would never trade Wheeler for Hickey, end of debate?

Dont let this one go, Deano.
As long as he doesn't ask for "stupid" money and doesn't take up Manhattan Beach real estate as his main hobby, he is welcome to stay.
