Well they just resigned powe which is good. so he will probably start in one of the lines. which means shelley will not start. and i think they are done making moves on offense.

so what do you guys think the lines will be next season?

To start the season or throughout the season? Because Betts isn't going to play at the beginning of the season most likely.

Looks like he might be ready per TP.

I am just curious if we could pair Timonen and Pronger together. I mean why not? Just to see how it goes.

Zherdev - Richards - Leino

I assume Zherdev is going to be attached to the hip of Richards, much like Gagne was. Leino adds another playmaker so that Richards can muck in the corners when he chooses and Zherdev is the finisher.

Hartnell - Carter - JVR

Very remeniscent of the Hartnell-Carter-Lupul line, except JVR is more talented and not as lazy as Lupul, win-win.

Carcillo - Giroux - Briere

Reunite the '08-'09 playoff magician duo and give them a nasty guy to play against to protect them since they are midgets.

Lappy - Betts - Shelley/Powe

Will be pretty hard to play against and very good forechecking line.

Pronger - Carle

Hopefully this doesn't need to be explained.

Meszaros - Timonen

Both players are very good offensively and defensively, which will open one another's games in both ends.

Coburn - O'donnell/Walker

Big, physical if Coburn gets the sand out of his vag and can play 15-20 minutes a night without hurting you, sounds like a very good 3rd pairing to me.

I think we're going to see Zherdev start with Richards but eventually be changed to Giroux's wing where he'll find success. I'm actually excited to see what he brings to our team, same for Mesz.

Unfortunately, yes. I think Holmgren thinks Shelley can play. I'd try something like this:

Hartnell-Richards-Zherdev
JVR-Carter-Leino
Carcillo-Giroux-Briere
Shelley-Betts-Laperriere

I like this a lot except I'd rather have Bartulis as the 7th dman.

If that was the case then we most likely would still have Gagne on the roster.

Our top scorer and top faceoff player and a plyer that played center ever since he entered NHL will be moved to the LW.

Nothing is wrong with that. Right?

Where was the top scorer during the playoffs while Briere, Giroux were tearing it up? Carter does not make others around him better, Giroux does, putting Carter to the LW forces Carter to shoot from the center of the ice which will negate the high and wide RW shots that routinely circle out of the zone.

If Carter cannot score off the LW then maybe he just ain't so good, eh? And as far as faceoffs, let the polesmoker take faceoffs so the Cartsiejerseywearing supporters can make sure they have at least something to cheer for.

Where was Carter? Carter had two different fractures. He was in the hospital most of the time. Didn't you know?

He made Hartnell 30 goal scorer 60pts player. Does it count?
Where was Briere during regular season? He makes 6.5M a year. More then any other player on our team.

He is 30-40 goals scorer and if Hartnell did not **** up last season Carter would score 40 again. No doubt about it. He scored 33 while playing 74 games.

Eh?

i like this a lot!!! i can see leino and carbomb switching every once and awhile. D looks solid and once again the only question mark is in net. ugh... hopefully this year under lavy we can start games up tempo and not wait around till the middle of the 2nd to get into games.

This.

At least to start and then the lines will change a million times throughout the year. I'm sure we'll see a huge dose of Shelly at most likely Powes expense. Realistically though we'll be injured before the preseason is out so both Powe and Shelly will be in anyway.

I would say from the Timmy P article that Betts expects to be in the lineup even if he is bang on schedule which he appears to be ahead of. I'm glad. I REALLY like Betts. He was the highlite of the last years training camp.

If Carter is left wing:
Carter-Richards-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
JVR-Giroux-Carcillo
Laps-Betts-Powe

If Carter is Center (Not nearly as impressive):
JVR-Richards-Giroux
Hartnell-Carter-Zherdev
Carcillo-Briere-Leino
Laps-Betts-Powe

Lavi can do whatever he wants in playoffs. Briere won't be good at center for 82 regular season games. Not going to happen.

Leino Richards Zherdev
Hartnell Carter Briere used to be a very good line.
JVR Giroux Powe/Carcillo
Carcillo/Shelley/Powe Betts Lappy

I see two major weaknesses with this lineup.

1) Our wingers are extremely iffy. Leino hasn't proven anything in the regular season in his career (Leino had a magical playoff run before Detroit got rid of him too), we're counting on Hartnell to bounce-back majorly (granted, I think he will), it should be pretty obvious why Zherdev is shaky, Carcillo is going to be put on a scoring line (yikes), it's almost guaranteed that Giroux will be bounced back-and-forth between center and wing, and JVR is entering his sophomore season. Not to mention that we lost our best winger (both offensively and defensively) this summer. If you look at that group, the only person who can realistically reach 70 points (which is at least what Gagne would have in a full season) is Zherdev and even that's not anywhere close to a guarantee at this point. The only guys who can realistically pot 30 goals are Zherdev and Hartnell. Neither of those guys are anything close to a guarantee as well.

Being so shallow on wing to the point where we actually have to put Carcillo on a scoring line also means that our depth is completely screwed if any of our major wingers get injured and are out for extended periods of time (which, more then likely, will happen). Who would we put up in order to fill in for a guy like Leino, Giroux, Zherdev, etc.? Powe? Shelley?

2) This is the obvious one. Our goaltending. I expect it to blow up in our faces majorly at some point in the season.

I'd say to start off the season:

Carcillo-Richards-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
JVR-Carter-Giroux
Shelley-Powe(Betts when he heals)-Lappy
Powe(When Betts heals)

Pronger-Carle
Timonen-Coburn/Meszaros
Meszaros/Coburn-O'Donnell
Walker-Bartulis

I have no idea if Homer is really going to trade any d-men, but in all honesty, it would help a ton. Even if some find Zherdev iffy, I think he will have his best season this year because he WANTS to be back in the NHL, which means there is something major motivating him. So I don't think there should be a problem of motivation.

These are the types of excuses that make me puke, did not finish a 6ft GW potential shot. Gagne showed up with a broken toe and scored 9, including several clutch goals in the Boston series, where were you? If you were like Carter you probably disappeared during clutch. You can take your fantasy stats and stick 'em with Carter's little black book.

What does Gagne have to do with anything? Weren't you talking about Briere vs Carter?

I already told you Carter had two different injuries. 1st injury he missed 8 games. Close to a month. 2nd injury he missed 11 playoffs games basically one month. How was that not clear? Or am I making excuses?

So because Carter was not clutch in playoffs you want to move him to LW? You want to move a player that scored 80 ****ing goals for us in last two seasons? What team does something like that? Does not make any freaking sense.

Giroux-Richards-Zherdev: (basically has a little of everything)
Hartnell-Carter-JVR: (closest wing pair we can give Carter to Hartnell/Lupul)
Carcillo-Briere-Leino: (dont really like this one, but I like the above two enough to throw these guys together)
Shelley/Betts/Lappy/Powe

OR

Leino-Richards-JVR: (can create, can go to the net)
Zherdev-Giroux-Briere: (awful defensively, but I REALLY want to give this line a shot)
Hartnell-Carter-Carcillo: (cant give Carter good wingers or they'll go to waste)
Shelley/Betts/Lappy/Powe

Basically, Zherdev should be extremely exciting wherever he steps in. Zherdev-Briere-Giroux would be extremely exciting to watch, but would need to be monitored very closely.
