Shelley: How many goals this year?

This will be fun to look back on as an actually serious poll. History indicates that there is an extremely good chance that the answer to this will be either 0, 1, 2, or 3. I'm sure some of you ass bags want options in this poll like 30, 40, 50+...but you ain't gettin' it. This poll has realistic choices that take into consideration the fact that Jody Shelley stinks at playing hockey.

edit: btw, just for reference...for his career, Shelley has averaged 1.6 goals per season

Winners of this poll will receive this autographed Fathead of Jody Shelley in the mail. All Fatheads will be shipped the last week of April 2011.

Given that he's going to be getting time on the 3rd line, centered by one of Giroux, Carter, or Briere... I will say 10. Because, after all, that's what you can reasonably expect from a 3rd liner, and our GM (fearless leader) told us he's a guy capable of playing that role.

I don't understand at all why a lot of people seem to have a problem with Holmgren thinking Shelley would a be a good fit on a 3rd line here. Think about it. What do most NHL GM's look for if they need someone who is capable of playing on a 3rd line alongside top-6 type guys? Yep, that's right...slow, aging, 2-goal scorers.

For instance, a lot of times we had Giroux-JVR-Asham as our 3rd line last year. There were a lot of times where you wished that a player a little faster and more skilled than Asham had been out there. So, who better to potentially be taking over that type of role than a slower, much less skilled Jody Shelley?

If all goes well, we can expect Shelley to put the biscuit in the basket once every 65 games or so. That kind of goal-scoring pop doesn't grow on trees, ya know.

I say 2. Simply by standing in front of the net a point shot or two is bound to go off his skate.

4 or more. We run with 4 lines a lot more than his teams in the past -especially the Sharks. Although if you take away his goals scored against us last year it looks pretty bleak.

Goals?

His wife will make a cake if he scores.

The title should read: How many fights this year?

Seriously, I don't think Shelley will play much, he's not a Laviolette kinda guy I'd say. Maybe he's tossed in if the Rangers have Boogaard in the lineup, but that's about it.

I'm hoping Pronger takes things into his own hands and shoots one off Shelley's jaw and in.

That gives him 1 goal!

He scored one goal in each of the last 2 games he and the Flyers were playing in the same building, so I expect no less than 82.

He's going to be playing with Giroux. He'll get 4 at least.

Realistically, I will say 6 or 7. He will undoubtedly be playing with better talent than he did in New York, Columbus or San Jose.

I'm shocked that the Philly media have largely bought the ******** claim of Homer than Shelley is a third line player.
