Guys, I believe this list is based off of last season. Not since the lockout... But if it is, Lundqvist is third, at the least. Note: I can't see the article. It's saying it's not found.

Last year, Lundqvist sure as hell wasn't the 8th best goalie. Rank between 4-6.

Backstrom at 6? LOL

Bryzgalov at 2? OMG

Anderson at 4? WTF

What a terrible list. My God. Tuukka Rask should be ahead of Jimmy Howard, and he's not even on there. Lundqvist needs to be in the top 5.

I think it is. The top three goalies were last year's Vezina nominees, with Miller obviously winning it.

Mr. Overrated till he dies.

Brodeur can't beat Lunqvist with a far better team.

If this is based on last season it's still a horrible list because Rask and Rinne performed much better and more consistently than Anderson did for sure. Hank should be 4 or 5 based on last year. Craig had an MVP start to the season but a pretty bad middle and end.

So what we determined is that VS is a crappy network...

Blame Sather. Put a half decent team in front of Henrik and he has his Vezina. Probably would be no. 1 in the league.

This.

Nik Backstrom is an extremely good, and very underrated goalie.

That list is a joke. I love Anderson but putting him at #4 is insanity. Having him in the Top 10 alone is sketchy. And Bryzgalov will never be a true starter in my eyes. And jesus. Miller is good, but #1? Brodeur at #3? Luongo at #5? Hank at #8!?

This is a seriously silly list.

Most likely created just get to get folks riled up.

Eight is insulting.

http://www.versus.com/blogs/no-holdi...f-nhl-goalies/ is the full link. The way it's written makes it sound like it could be either Top Ten of last year or Top Ten of past few years.

Quote:
Who are the top 10 padded guardians of the corded igloo in the NHL right now? The Stanley Cup playoffs really got people thinking more about questions like that, with a re-examination around the league about just how important goalies really are.
This could lean both ways, but sounds more like Top Ten of past few years.

Quote:
Ward might be the one guy I'd stick in there if I had a do-over on this column actually. His saves percentage was better (.916-.913) than Luongo's, for instance.
Those are 2009-2010 statistics only.

Quote:
And he's won a Cup and taken a team to a conference final since 2006. And yet, he wasn't brilliant last year, either. A tough call either way.
And now back towards past few years.

The writer doesn't really quantify the time period. And although I don't think he means just the past season alone, I could see why he would put Lundqvist @ #8 for last season. Statistics-wise, it was an "off" season for him, about as "off" as you can get yet still carry the team on your shoulders every night and win 30+ games.

If he's saying this list is for the last few seasons (or since the lockout) he's crazy.

This list is interesting to say the list. Hank at 8 is a joke, any rational hockey fan will back us up on that. Howard cracking the top 10 might be the worst part of the list though.

Backstrom is by far the most overrated goaltender in the NHL. He's not even top 10 in my book. I can't see how anyone can consider him even remotely good. I've been saying for years that he's garbage, he lets in some of the cheapest most garbage goals on such a consistent basis. He will never ever backstop a good team unless he can hide behind their fantastic defenders or a trap. Period.

I hate how overrated Miller has become. I'm still feeling that Enroth is going to Rask him this year, being that a rookie comes in and outperforms the vezina winner.

I watch a ton of Sabres games every year, and honestly? He's good, he really is. But he's not elite. He's got to prove it more then 1 season. Ruff's system GREATLY complemented Miller's style of play.

And I have nothing against Miller, he's a great goalie, I very much enjoy watching Sabres games that he plays, but I'm not sold on him being elite. That's all.

Why does the system have anything to do with it? That is the lamest excuse in all of sports. The guy is a "system guy". It's all ********. Marty has played behind the friggin trap his entire career. And no one refers to him as a "system guy".

Do I think Hank is better than Miller. Yeah I do. But of course I am biased. But don't discount how good Ryan Miller is.

Ryan Miller is an elite goalie. Hes, imho, inarguably one of the 3 best goalies in the league. if i had a gun put to my head, id say Henrik is a hair better, prolly go 1Henrik, 2 miller, and 3 luongo...but that could change on like a dialy basis...imho all 3 are ridiculously talented.

I'd put Rinne in there before some of the bottom 3.

75% of this board does.

including me.

most overrated goalie in the history of the game.

On the flip side, Hasek is, in my opinion, the greatest goalie to ever lace em up.

I watch a TON of Sabres games and if you think the "system" helps Miller you aren't watching the same games. There defense is always shaky. They have a ton of skill up front but since they can't spend a ton of money they choose to not spend it on the back-end. Ruff is an all-out-attacking coach which leaves his team open to odd-man rushes and break-aways against Miller. He is an elite goalie.
