MAB is essentially a faster skating tom preissing, and we all remember how good he was, right??

I have doubts mitchell will ever play again, but he would be a decent stop gap for a year or two.

Marc-Andre Bergeron is like Cumiskey, but more worse in the defensive zone.
But shoots the puck with authority. And doesn't skate as fast.

I think Mitchell's done, but if he isn't, he'd look good on any team in the league, Avs included.

Both are too expensive for Avs to sign them.

as a Habs fan... I can tell you that MAB is an awesome PP specialist.. but he is only good for the PP.. he is way to soft and commits alot of turn overs.. but if your looking for a PP specialist.. Bergeron is your guy.. but if you are looking for a bottom pair Defenseman, i would suggest Mitchell

they are two completely different style of Defensman!

I saw Bergeron play live at least 30 times last year and this guy would be a better power play specialist than Liles. No question about it. But like Shadow said, defensively....oufff!!!!

If we can use him 10-12 minutes a game (including power play time, I would go for him). More than 15 minutes...I am not interested.

He was kidding. The Avs signed nobody during free agency so hes saying that the Avs are being cheap making them too expensive.

Wild fan here with $.02. Having seen both of them play it depends entirely on...everything.

You absolutely cannot give MAB any more than 10 minutes per night 5 on 5, but he racks up the points on PP. If you have a pair of workhorse D who can be responsible for 25-30 min. per night and the rest are average you should be okay. Your PP % will go up.

Willie has a rep as a defensive d man but he is horrid getting the puck out of his own zone. that said he is gritty, a lot better defensively than MAB (and can play more minutes), and will get in harms way if anyone is shoving around your softer skill guys.

hell, you could pick up MAB as your #7 and use him as a fourth line wing/ PP specialist. At what he's likely to make I'd much rather have him than Zidlicky. Because we do have Zidlicky, we can't sign MAB--no team would be able to overcome that much defensive liability.
