I think I would run away with that deal, I don't think Boston is getting nearly the same value. Plus our top 6 is hurting badly, Wheeler and Savard would turn this team into a solid 3 line contending team.

Yep. That's a great deal for us.

Hell yes. I'd definitely make that trade. I don't think Boston would though, Wheeler is proven and Hickey has been injured. Wheeler's contract through arbitration might change that however, so who knows.

did you notice the structure of the deal? In his final 3 years he makes

2014-2015 $1,500,000
2015-2016 $525,000
2016-2017 $525,000

Do you think he hangs it up when he starts making the league minimum? Personally id love to have Savard at a 4mil cap hit.

I think we should take a little closer look at Boston's cap situation and take advantage. If the arbitration case involving that kid in Atlanta is any indication, some of these teams are going to want to trade players like Wheeler before their case gets to arbitration.

can a trade occur before the arbitration decision?

I believe it can. The Kings would just be the team that was then involved in the arbitration hearing, which is also a risk. It would certainly be ideal to reach an agreement with a player that you just traded for prior to reaching the arbitration hearing.

Isn't Wheeler and Johnson pretty good buds, thought there was talk of maybe Johnson trying to talk his friend to coming to LA out of college but went to Boston?
Would love to have Wheeler though, Hickey sounds about right or Tuebert and a 3rd.
