Wale is good. Wiz Khalifa and Currency are other favorites for free mix tapes.

Force EVERY player to listen to Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Deicide, Carcass, Death, Cryptopsy, Exodus, Skeletonwitch, and Dream Theater and they'll stop being a bunch of limp wrists.

Between the bands you two listed, you pretty much listed my favs. Saw Brekaing Benjamin and Staind when they were opening up for 3 Doors Down. That's how I got into them. I really need to see Shinedown soon. Sucks that I won't get to see Alter Bridge.

I'm really into Julian Casablancas' (lead singer of The Strokes) new album, Phrazes for the Young. I feel a real 80s vibe from it, even though I was only born in 85 lol. I would highly recommend the album to anyone interested in a little bit of 80s-ish/indie/synth rock!

Gaslight Anthem, The National, Thrice, Jimmy Eat World. Mostly TGA though, frustrating that I've still got 3 months until I can see them again.

Not a bad idea, haha. I'd join if someone made one. I got the same thing when I clicked on the Last.fm links.

This summer's been an assortment of new dubstep, drum-and-bass, along with staples in my music library like Minus the Bear, Beulah, Cave In, Thrice, Hammock, Explosions in the Sky, As Tall as Lions, and the Deftones. Been on a John Mayer kick recently as well since I saw him at Jones Beach the other night. Easily one of the best performances I've ever seen.

This summer it's been all about:

Against Me! - their album White Crosses is punky with some arena rock vibes
Propagandhi - angry, political/social-focused punk/hardcore/thrash
Bad Astronaut - great pop punk from the lead singer of Lagwagon
Far - great post hardcore band
Led Zeppelin - just started getting into them, 40 years late =P

I was initially a little surprised to see so much punk/emo/hardcore in this thread, but now that I think about it, it's not really surprising at all.

Which Utters album is your favorite? The thing I like most about them is that they always seem to be having fun and it shows.

If you haven't heard the band Dear Landlord yet, you might want to check them out, too. Not exactly the same as Swingin Utters, but they definitely have that fun uptempo punk thing going on too.
