Mark my words on this one, and feel free to tell me if I was wrong, but I am VERY high on Greg Pateryn. Only 20 years old, he has both size and mobility, plus some toughness, all things we need in our backend. I think he is actually in our Top 5-6 prospects.

I think his stock here is underrated because the Habs didn't draft him, so we don't have as many Trevor Timmins quotes in the files regarding him. LOL.

I think it's great that you are high enough on a player to come out and say that, to put him in our top 5-6 is very ballsie. If he comes through you'll look like a genious!

I like Bennett alot as a "sleeper" pick in our top 10.

Carle IMO is pretty underated around here as well.. He was better then Weber during his calls up and he was Hamilton's best defenseman up until he got injured and Subban took the ball and rolled with it. Just alot of questions about his injuries at this point...

These polls makes me realist that Montreal has great prospect coming into there own. Guys Like Subban and Eller are there and looks to be a lock this up coming season. White, Maxwell, Weber, Carle and Desharnais are looking to make this team and could very well happen. We have sleepers like Engqvist, Bennet and few others. We are looking good boys.

Palushaj.

I have to say, despite the lack of true blue-chippers below Subban and maybe Eller, this is still a very deep list. Palushaj's a very talented guy with a legit shot at making the NHL and he's fighting for twelfth spot. And there are legit prospects beneath him too. I was just eyeing the Leafs list, and it's drastically shallow in comparison. Then again Burke was able to come up with guys like Bozak and Gustavson outside the draft, not to mention the absolute fleecing he gave Calgary. (Why is that Calgary GMs feel a need to provide Toronto with franchise-caliber players in return for overpaid mediocraties? Did Gilmour teach them nothing?) Anyway, back on topic, good work TT!

I'm surprised Palushaj isn't in the top ten ahead of White and Desharnais?

He is like #5 on Hockey Futures, and was in the top 3 I believe when with St. Louis.

And Palushaj becomes the coveted #1 most overrated prospect in Habs land... okay 2nd after Avtsin

But seriously, he doesn't have the upside of Engqvist, Carle or Bennett and it's not like he's more of a sure shot either.

Palushaj was ranked 4th in St. Louis's prospect system of HFBoards. He should have been voted much earlier. Seriously, I'm a big Avstin fan also and I'm glad he seems to be panning out, but 7th? Really?

For the 5th time in a row, he's my vote. Add MacMillan

I think that Mathieu Carle, Palushaj and Desjardins deserve to be higher on the list.

Enlighten me here... Why is Desjardins not getting anymore love? Didn't he do great in Hamilton last year? I know he didn't finish the playoffs... What happened? Did he hurt himself or did he just sucked bad? If it's the latter, I can understand why people aren't giving him more credit.

Hesitated between Carle and Palushaj. Voted Carle, but was a tough choice. By the way, I found this guy's account on Youtube that shows loads of Montreal prospects during this year's development camp. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/pemorin

Pretty good videos. You can see Tinordi, McMillan, Ellis, Westin in action to name a few.

I don't see how Pateryn could be one of our top 5 prospects, what do you base that off, cause for the last two years he hasn't been able to see a regular shift in the NCAA. Granted he picked it up in the 2nd half this year, so hopefully he can build off that. He does have a solid frame, moves well, will take the body has a heavy shot, and has shown good improvment in his own end. To me he's the kind that can do most things well enough but nothing great. That said this is a big year for him now that he's an upper classman on a team that could have some question marks on the blueline so we'll see how he responds.

The interesting thing is that he could be paired with Mac Bennett this year, so we'll see how both do. I personally think much much higher of Bennett but I've seen Pateryn a lot more.

Well, you saw the same things I did, and he is only 20 yo. Solid frame, moves well, will take the body, sounds like McDonagh, doesn't it? Unfortunately, he wasn't drafted by Timmins, thus underrated here.

The other reason I have him possibly as high as #5-6 is that many of our guys are being vastly over-rated imo.

I don't think the following players have much NHL IMPACT potential:
Louis Leblanc (hockey is not a priority for him), Yannick Weber (size and speed issues), Ben Maxwell (hockey sense and commitment issues), David Desharnais (size and speed issues), Ryan White (speed and hockey sense issues).

I also think a 4th-5th defenceman is worth more than a 4th line forward, and maybe most 3rd line forwards, and I see Pateryn as a POTENTIAL future Gorges with better physique. That puts him ahead of the Whites and Palushajs imo.

I see 4 categories of prospects:

A: Potential NHL Real Stars
Subban

B. Potential NHL Above-average contributors
Eller
Avtsin
Tinordi

C. Potential NHL useful contributors
Kristo (probably closest to a 'B' grade)
Pacioretty
Pateryn
Schultz (upside limited to notable 4th liner)
Bennett (upside limited to offensive-D specialist at best)

D. Potential NHL filler or not enough information to make a prediction YET
Everyone else

lol...montreal is a polite guy so he probably won't reply like me...but what the ****? Some of your arguements are ********. Hockey is not a priority for Leblanc? why? because he's spending an extra year in one of the most prestigious universities on the planet? C'mon. Maxwell no hockey sense? Of course the guy has hockey sense. I'll let committment pass, because I'll assume you mean he's lack of physical committment at the NHL level in terms of getting his nose dirty. Not sure how you can say Leblanc, maxwell, engvist, bennett, carle, white and so on are NHL fillers at best, but greg pateryn and Schultz will be 'useful NHLers'...White for instance already has the mold of a guy who will be a useful bottom 6 guy but the unproven shultz is on the list. Not sure what you're thinking.
