if you think afinogenov has no heart you must have really freakin high expectations. just because he's bad at defense doesn't mean he lacks effort. he always gives it 110% he just isn't good at defense

The isles could really use a quick skating top 6 winger.

Surprised the Thrash haven't re-signed him. All reports are that they're only offering one year and he wants a multiple. Thrashers are still at the cap floor and could use another top 6 winger. If they don't re-sign Max then I'm pretty sure they end up with Ponikarovsky or Frolov.

Vanek slumped in the same seasons Maxim did. Were one of these players leeching off each other? Or was Danny Briere really that cohesive?

Briere didn't play with Vanek or Afinogenov. Max slumped because of injuries in Buffalo -- wonky groin and a broken wrist. Even with Afinogenov slumping in his final season in Buffalo, Vanek pumped in 40 goals. They could compliment one another, but there wasn't really any "leeching" going on.

And Max's PPG in Atlanta after Kovalchuk was dealt ought to point out that he wasn't "leeching" there either. The guy has a lot of playmaking ability. It's just that a team has to know that they will have moments of frustration when he goes a little too far, riffs too much, and the play breaks back against him and his line due to his individual efforts. The rest of the time though, he's fun to watch and will entertain.

And the whole "no heart" thing mentioned above.... not true. Max is very passionate about the game. He's not the best defensive player, but that doesn't mean he has no heart.
