As per sportsnet.

My favourite Canuck, what a deal too.

Exactly what we all guessed.

Any chance we can keep this guy now?

Exactly what we all hoped he would sign for, and we managed to get him for 2 years too... awesome.

Great signing. I think you would've had to let him go if it went to arbitration. The arbitrators have been very generous towards the players thus far.

Great deal for the Canucks, by what I am reading it appears that Gillis gave Raymond his patented 11th hour speech like he gave the Sedins last year and Raymond went for it. Not really sure why Raymond would accept as I can't see him getting less in arbitration but I'm not complaining.

This deal probably inspired by the Perron deal. Let's give you two years to show a. you're consistant b. you're a top end forward, then earn the big money if you deserve it. I think that's fair.

I happy to have him signed at a cap friendly number.

The term, only 2 years, is an acknowledgment that the parties were quite a ways apart on numbers. We will likely have to pay a lot more in 2 years. However, as he is not 25 until September, this contract will leave him still a RFA when it expires so the Canucks retain the RFA leverage on his next contract.

His new contract will expire the same year as Samuelsson's, and a year before Burrows' and (assuming Hodgson makes the team this year) Hodgson's contracts.

The numbers on this deal also probably make Burrows' contract less of a bitter pill (for Alex).

w0w0w0w0w0w0 great deal for both sides IMO. Perron deal really set the bar and it perhaps brought the market into line after the crazy MacArthur award.

Excellent deal for the Canucks and its nice they avoided a possibly messy arbitration hearing. I thought he was going to get closer to $3m/year so its another good day to be a Canuck fan.

Wonder if the NHLPA will get on Raymond's case for not fighting harder for benefit of his fellow players?

The dollars work in the team's favour.

The term works in Raymond's. If he builds on the potential he showed this past year, he will cash in big time in a couple of years...as he should.

With this major piece of off-season work out of the way, it is time to get working on the cap.

Do you move Bieksa for prospects with Salo injured?

Shane O'Brien - clear more cap space?

And where for art thou Willie?

Credit goes to both sides here for not risking the arbitration hearing. Raymond gets a sensible contract and if he continues to be a 25-30 goal scorer for the next two seasons, he'll cash in big time.

Lots of stuff on this in the contract extension thread, where I imagine this thread will now be rolled into.

The term is good for both sides. Raymond is still an RFA after the deal, but the Canucks don't buy any UFA years up.

If they can sign Willie, I want to see Alberts and O'Brien gone and they could still probably find room to get a 3rd line winger for 1.5 million.
