What Sport do Montrealers Prefer?

HarryI's baseball thread got me thinking. Montreal has 4 million people. That's is enough to support another team. You have the second largest economy, and a new sports channel (TVA sports) coming.

Why not get another sports franchise?

Yeah just be prepared to build a new arena because it isn't going to be at the Expos old arena.

Right now I'm voting MLB. I've been watching so much baseball this summer, and I just love it all over once again. If you ask me in December, if the Jets are doing well, I'll likely say the NFL.

I'd be suprised to see if NBA even broke 5% of the vote.

Now that I've said that though I'm sure some scrubs will vote NBA just to be funny.

I definitely pick NBA. My favorite sport/league after hockey. That said, basketball would not work in Montreal imo.

I'll try to watch more NBA just because of the Heat now. I'm curious to see if they will fail.

I like the NFL too. Something about watching it on a cold fall afternoon is appealing.

How can you watch baseball when it's so nice outside (I know there are some evening games, but still....)

Damn I would love to have an NBA team here; just a 10 minute walk from home to go to the Bell Center; sweet

Bit it will never happen

What would the team be called?

The Montreal Squirrels?

Montreal will always have the chance at the NBA. Just do what the Leafs did with tickets to the corporate community and they will be fine finanacially.

Now will non corporates show up? That's a different story.

I'd be happy if any of those leagues came to Montreal. I'm a sports fan first and I'm able to enjoy any of those sports.

I doubt basketball would work over here, but the other two would definitely have a chance. If I had to choose, I'd probably take the NFL because American football is way better than the CFL, but I'd also be ecstatic to get the Expos back.

Moar sports, moar.

Montreal's definitely becoming a football city, as you can see with the success of the Alouettes. I think an NFL team would work here if they had the proper facility.

Wouldn't mind a return of the Expos as long as it's with a different owner.

NBA, no thanks.

I loved the Expos even more than the Canadiens so the choice is easy for me: MLB.

I'm a New York Jets fan though and completely ignore baseball. I've watched maybe two games in the last five years.

Easily NFL. Would love another baseball team, but an NFL team in this city would be amazing.

I voted NFL, but I prefer the CFL. I think that an NFL team in Canada would destroy the CFL.

If I were a billionaire, sports I'd bring (in order):

- NFL
- MLB
- Poutine Eating Competition
- North American Women Stripper Beach Volleyball League

The NBA would fail miserably.

Not a scrub, voted for NBA. I would much rather watch pro basketball than American Football or Baseball AKA more boring than watching grass grow while your granny teaches you how to knit.

I know it's probably the least likely of the three to ever have a team in MTL, but it's the team sport I like best after hockey.

<3 Celtics

I guess NFL , but Montreal is faaaaar down the list of cities the NFL would want to go.
So I guess the return of the Expos , i'm not the biggest baseball fan there is but since I lived not far from the Olympic Stadium I liked going to games and will certainly go if they return even in a new stadium downtown

EDIT: Damn , right now in Montreal it's sunny i'm outside with my laptop and god I would love to put a Expos game on the radio and drink my beer.Good times.

I'd like the NFL best, but it's way too unlikely. I'm not sure what the reqs for the stadiums are, but iirc it's over 70 000 people. The Big O can't have that many people in it. Quebec can't even get an arena without a truckload of BS from all parties involved, I can't see anyone agreeing on a 500M$ or such investment for a football field.

The NBA is the likeliest, because they can just go in the Bell and everything is fine. Though I'm not sure I'd want to see a Montreal version of the Raptors.

NBA Season AND playoffs are pretty much at the exact same time as hockey, which is why the NBA is very unlikely to ever come close to the Bell Center.

Too bad, cuz pro caliber B-Ball is awesome.
