I am happy!

good signing - can't niggle about 1 or 2 years. if he is a dud 1 year is all we want and if he does great Slats will find a way to extend.

Frolov isn't going to **** the bed. Enough of that. On talent alone he's a lock for 50+ pts.

If I had to guess, I'd say he cracks 60 pts with us. Around 63-66 points.

He gets his nose dirty and scores majority of his goals in front or around the net.

If MZA plays like a second liner

Dubinsky - Christensen - Gaborik
Frolov - Anisimov - MZA
Prospal - Drury - Callahan
Boogaard - Avery - Prust

MZA doesn't play like a 2nd liner

Prospal - Christensen - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Frolov
MZA - Drury - Callahan
Boogaard -Avery - Prust

Anyway you look at it, it's starting to round out nicely.

If we have progression from Dubinsky and Anisimov we could see a best case scenario of

Dubinsky 30g35a65pts - Christensen 12g50a62pts- Gaborik 45g45a90pts
Frolov 28g32a60pts - Anisimov 18g40a58pts-MZA 15g45a60pts

That'd be sexy. And a pipedream.

If I recall, he actually made reference to Afinogenov and what he did with Atlanta last year. Fine by me.

If your referring to my post, I do not believe he will **** the bed. I was simply pointing out that you can't not like this post because even if he does (I don't think he will) he is gone after a year. I think he will fall between 50-70 points.

Love this signing....kid is big and strong and can deflect some nice ones as well.

Watching the highlights and getting excited.

Also...what number will he wear since Cally is currently #24 and Anisimov is 42??

Dammit. This will do nothing for the team except make the draft pick a couple selections lower.

as long as Staal is resigned, I'm happy. I would still like to see a trade for Marc Savard though but I'm not going to hold my breadth.

Frolov >>> Zherdev

I've been sure Redden would be gone for awhile now, and people seem to be thinking this is definitely the nail in the coffin.

Can Redden absolutely not fit on the roster next season?

Not a bad lineup at all... What about MZA?? also, I would put Drury centering the 2nd line and have AA centering the 3rd line... I would also have Avery on the third line and have Prust on the 4th line...

I don't think anyone can say anything bad about this signing if the rumored terms (1y/$3M) are correct. As has been said before, he either fits in well and earns another contract or can be moved for futures at the deadline.

That said, I wholeheartedly believe that MZA was signed to play a top 6 role on this team, and we all know that Prospal and Gabby are BFF. Call me crazy, but I think this team now has too many top 6 forwards: Gaborik, Frolov, Prospal, MZA, Anisimov, Christensen, Dubinsky. I'm expecting a trade, and my gut tells me that Dubinsky is going to be the odd man out, if for nothing else other than Slats might be anticipating another tough contract negotiation with him next off-season. I'm hoping that's not the case, because I expect a big year from Dubinsky.

All that said, this team is still bouncing around the playoff bubble all year in my opinion. They are by no means contenders, and really still not a "safe" bet for the POs. The Atlantic is just too good.

I think this helps the kids progress. It definitely takes pressure off Callahan and Dubinsky.

There's 1 name that doesn't fit on that list of top 6. Guess who. The sad part is some of you have him playing the most important position on the club.

Including Frolov contract, Rangers have approximately $6.8M remaining under summer cap. Team is not in distress regarding Staal.

Solid, one-year deal. I like it.

If only we could operate like this more often when these kind of players are on the market.

great pickup for those terms...i was fearing a 4 year, $20 mil deal. but for those terms its low risk, high reward and gives us some badly needed depth
