A third line with all kids is kind of a recipe for disaster. I'd like a vet somewhere on that line.
I'm also very interested in seeing what the new blood in the organization thinks about our goaltending prospects. This shakes the landscape quite a bit as the old crew kind of turned a shoulder to Ramo and Helenius, and both of them have the athleticism to be NHL goaltenders. Hell, Ramo put on a damn decent showing in his time here, before heading back over the pond.
I think one of them will be back in the mix, and wouldn't be surprised if it were Helenius.
EDIT: Er, not Ramo.
You have it kind of backwards there. It was Ramo who stuck it to the organization. He was very much in there plans and at the very last minute, he jumped ship. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way on that one. (Not that I have a problem with anyone sticking it to Brian Lawton, of course. )

I hear what you're saying and that certainly can't be discounted, but i'd imagine the new people would consider that just a general discontent with the team in general at that point in time.

The problem with Ramo was that he was inconsistent. Something wrong with his mental makeup. He would play one game, positionally sound, great athleticism and just really steal the game from the other team. Point taken first game he played against Toronto. Then he would have games where his positioning was really really off and he just got sniped all day and was lit up like a christmas tree.
I think with a good goalie coach he can actually be a solid netminder in the NHL. Honestly though, I think that ship has sailed. I was probably the biggest Ramo supporter when he was here saying that....

He got away (for many years) with not controlling his rebounds. Caught up quick in the NHL.

Great line-up with 12M still to spend
ps. If Perron signed for 4.3M over 2 years. Is it fair to say Downie signs for the same???
I think all of that content is actually run by The Sports Forecaster, but whoever it's been, they've been very up-to-date on having the right players listed in the right places.
They have Ashton as RW primarily, but one that can also play LW.
Ok, capgeek finally has Pouliot and Durno's numbers.
both are 2-way deals for one year at $550,000 NHL and $105,000 AHL
Meaning that with this roster...

...we've got enough room to do quite a bit more tweaking to the lineup, and still come in well under the cap.
Ashton and Wright's cap hits both come in at over $1 million each. If you subtract two of the above forwards for A&W, you've got less to work with, which may not matter if Yzerman and Vinik decide to not spend to the cap this season.
Depending on how close we actually get to that cap may determine who, if either ends up making the team. If the point isn't already moot by then.
I'm going to assume that Wright will play for either Norfolk or Tampa. His contract is on a non-stop collision course for expiration, and I'd prefer to not throw a year of it away.
I'm figuring that Downie will get near 2.5 as Matt Moulson and Mason Raymond signed for similar amounts after posting similar numbers.
