If Savard and Richards are average, so are most of the players that you listed on the 2nd tier.

That was my point. The elite group are above average. The second tier are the average. Doesnt mean they're not good. But when you talk about first line centers, they are average. Its like saying some girl is an average looking A-list actress even though you'd give up your life for one night.

I think we're splitting hairs, but I would call that 2nd tier above average, and 1st tier "elite", meaning more than above average.

Staple thinks we`re done. (Obviously after the signing of Staal)

yep Signing Staal is next. At that point they know what they have left and they make an offer to Willie Mitchell. I am sure he is in no rush after last yrs injury and the NYR will want a physical first

Not sure there's anything the Rangers can do without moving a contract. Otherwise, they risk Staal being sent an offer sheet. Besides, as much as I don't care for it, I'm guessing they give Christensen time to see if he can be productive as Gaborik center on a full time basis.

Yea. They should start looking to move Gilroy, Brashears contracts to teams who need to reach the cap floor. The problem with that is whos gonna want an unproven defensman for 1.75 who is a rfa next year and an old scrub. Theres not alot of pieces the rangers could move thats the problem. Maybe just a couple of minor trades thats it.

The next step is to sign Staal to a good contract...

Then.. Try and figure out a way to trade for Marc Savard..

Slats is a genius (sp?)... He can figure out a way.. LOL..

I'm too lazy to post the "No, God NO!" Clip, but it fits here. We have no use for another 2nd - 3rd line Tweener Center. Nevermind the fact that if he had 42 points on the STACKED caps team, he will probably finish with 20 point with us.

If he is signed cheap... Why not?? Morrison can still
play in the NHL and be effective. It would help with
the depth if any injuries happen.

Elite
Crosby, Malkin, Backstrom, Getzlaf, Thornton, Toews, E Staal, H Sedin, Stamkos, Datsyuk,

Second Tier

Lecavalier, Zetterberg, Spezza, Kopitar, Stastny, Carter, M Richards, Marleau, M Koivu

Would you put Brad Richards and Savard in the elite category or the second tier???

(Some of the guys are C/W but play C good portion of their careers)
This is a very silly argument over wording but I don't think anyone could or would argue that Elite/2nd Tier that you have. But I have a hard time with the word average being used to describe those players.

Morrison is an interesting idea.

He knows how to play with skilled players, I'd want him here if we didn't have Christensen, whos purpose is to attempt to play with Gaborik.

Morrison isn't better than what we can reasonibly expect from Anisimov, so why should he take his minutes? I pass.

ranger fans have been asking for the past 2 years for the team to make a deal and bring in a playmaking center. unfortunately, it hasn't happened, and it won't happen this offseason. we're gonna end up waiting for the redden, roszival, and drury contracts to all expire before we can do anything like that. gaborik was our big pickup until those 3 contracts are done. thank god we were able to deal gomez at least. getting frolov is great as well - especially for $3 million, but other than signing staal, that's a wrap for us i think.
