Are we waiting for Emery?

Yeah, Emery is nowhere close to playing again. Not till November, I'm told.
I wonder, is Paul not signing anyone and letting us go into the season with Leights and Boosh for about a month or so until Emery is healthy again so he can start? I thought his condition would be almost a sign to slow his career down or maybe even stop it. This is obviously a long shot but I'm just wondering if anyone could consider this a possibility for Holmgren, then again anything is.

After the way this off-season has gone, I wouldn't put it past him.

Whe will you all relaize that Shooter doesnt have a real plan. He takes it day by day. thinking that far ahead is something he isnt capable of, or at least shown he isnt capable of.

Homer doesn't have the fore-thought for that. It's a stupid plan anyway (although Homer is known for stupid ****).

I'm hoping the best for Emery, but he's a long-shot at best and his career may be over.

homer loves giving player's a second chance at glory. expect to see ray dressed and playing in a wheelchair.

his 5 hole would still be an impovement over leighton's.

At best, if everything goes as well as possible, he wouldn't be ready to play in the NHL until March or April. There is no way Holmgren is waiting for Emery to be back. I wish Emery all the best, but I think he's going to have to play in Europe/Russia if he has any hope of returning to the NHL, which at this point is probably more of a hope then anything else.

Hopefully not, Emery should sign an AHL deal with NHL-release clause to get back to being healthy. If he's good enough, someone will give him a shot.

Unlikely. If he was healthy I'd be ok with it. He played well when he was healthy.

I really have a hard time believing Emery will ever be 100% back to his normal self, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I will be.

He played well in his time with Philly when he wasn't injured. I don't think they're waiting, as loyal as Philly is to their players. I hope the best for him though.

They need to give up on Emery playing hockey again. Yeah, he had the surgery to stop the necrosis, but fact is, before Emery could even consider playing again, he'd have to get a hip replacement surgery first and that's not even a guarantee that that would allow him to play again. Unfortunately, he's done and it's a shame too because if he were healthy the entire year, we might have won Lord Stanley with him in nets.....

I wish the best for Ray, but I'm not going to chance signing him with an injury like that.

Where did you hear this?

If anything, a hip replacement would guarantee that he couldn't play again.

One might even say, he lacks vision.

That was a direct comment from Emery back in April after the surgery, mentioning about hip replacement surgery. As what Emery said after the surgery, he'll be lucky if he can walk normally again and that if he wanted to play again, he would have to seriously look at a hip replacement. Either way, it doesn't look good.

Anyone who says no to this is severely overestimating Homer's intelligence.

Has there been any word about him since winter? All we have heard is he has this problem but there hasn't been anything written about him in ages.

I thought I read Emery may never walk correctly again? Isn't avascular necrosis horrible?

The success rate is measured in being able to walk again. So despite there being a 95% success rate, the chance of returning to professional sports, especially as a goalie is pretty slim.
