"Even warriors need to take a break - Matt Greene, the ultimate warrior is going to be sidelined for 3-4 months following shoulder surgery my source in Manchester confirmed today.
He had been playing on the bad shoulder for most of last season, but as always, played through the pain. Following a knee collision Greene was expected to miss 2-3 weeks during the season, instead, he missed 10 days and was back on the ice. This time, the damage caught up to him.
The same source confirmed that Kevin Westgarth has had surgery on his dominant hand and is most likely not ready for the start of the season as well. "

Yes, but it's not like Greene will be out forever. He'll probably miss a month of the regular season. Our defense looks like tissue paper right now and would with any injury. We need two guys and one of them has to be Sutton, otherwise we are going to need to make a deal to fill another hole. If no Sutton, then we have to trade for a physical defenseman because outside of him, there are none in UFA.
