Hitting is part of the game...nothing wrong with it...but when Gabby gets jumped by a goon and nothing is done...that is what i have a problem with it.

When Orr was on the team...everyone hated him...now, everyone loves him...amazing...you guys are so fickle.

Boogey is here to stay...so, you can be miserable for four years and I will enjoy all that he brings to the team.
So now I'm a towel boy, because I played hockey from 6-17, and attended summer camps to improve my understanding of the game?

And I never said I was an expert. You're the one tossing around statements like, you guys don't know hockey. Aye, a 37 year old woman who only seems to understand hockey from a fighting pov, is going to lecture us about the game.

I never hated Orr. Assuming I did, only shows you don't know what the hell you're talking about. I moaned and *****ed when Slats went with Brashear, for more money, over Orr. Slats should have matched Toronto's offer and kept our guy here. I already said this though, a few pages earlier, so assuming I didn't like Orr is rather foolish.

And obviously Boogaard's here to stay. He signed a 4 year deal. 1.65M cap hit. You think he's tradeable now??????

You don't know a ****ing thing about hockey. You insult people's opinions, and on top of that put words in people's mouths to justify your failureness.

Keep posting nonsense. Keep stretching what people say. Keep doing, whatever you're doing. You know your hockey!

A Caps player tried to stand up to Orr and got his face bloodied. He changed that game as well as the next Caps game where the Caps were much more docile.

Its an intimidation factor that many here aren't taking into account.
Remind me what the score of that Caps game was? Honestly, I forget.

200 Posts of garbage. Keep it up princess.

Fact is, your 37 years old. That's ****ing old. Act like an adult please.

And assuming I like Drury, is like assuming you know hockey.

You see I can respect that...you don't have to like the role of the goon...but you understand you need to have one.

I would have been happier with Shelley than Boogard. I would have been happier with Orr, over Boogaard too.

Does that mean I don't want an enforcer, or I don't like fighting?

You can't be this ignorant. You just can't. People that stupid can't figure out how to use the quote feature.

I would have been happy with Shelley on a 1 year deal for about a million dollars. Anything more than that and I would have walked away.

Although, I would have been much happier giving Boogard a 3 year deal, considering Orr also got 4 years out of the Leafs I can see how his price was raised in free agency.

Sweet.

I remember the game, I didn't remember the score though.

Remind me why we went with Brashear over Orr again? . . .

Yeah, that didnt make much sense. Although I think Sather had the idea correct with trying to get a player who could intimidate in more than just the fighting aspect he was just too old.

No, but I am getting my MBA from Carnegie Mellon. Regardless, keep ignoring the important pieces of my posts and making idiotic comments.

So because they aren't available, we should overpay for a guy that kind of fits the bill?

The fact that we substitute "whatever we can get at the time" for something worthwhile is the exact problem with this franchise. We need a #1 center, we get Gomez. We need a #1 d-man, we pick up Redden. We need a back-up goalie, we roll with Chad Johnson and Matt Zaba.

Seems to me, that several years later, 2 of 3 are still a problem. Now we're on our 3rd goon in the last 3 years, and each one is more expensive than the next. Is Boogaard really going to protect Gaborik from getting jumped by Carcillo? Not a chance in hell. Why? Because there will almost never come a point where the three are on the ice together. Again, "enforcers" are a reactionary substitute for protection.

I don't know about you guys...but with Wade Redden still on this team I can't even get mad over a guy making 1.65 mil that will ACTUALLY DO HIS JOB.

I really don't understand all the arguing over Boogaard. It's 1.65 million of 55+ million we have to spend people...it's nothing. On a correctly built team that slight over payment isn't an issue.

Who was the goon for the Blackhawks this season when they, you know, won the Stanley Cup? Ben Eager? Dustin Byfuglien? Anyone that watched the playoffs knows that categorizing those players as "goons" is severely underrating their capabilities.

Who was the goon for the Red Wings when they won the Cup? Holmstrom? Ha. Godard destroyed people all last season for the Penguins and than he didn't even get to put on the jersey for the playoffs.

If fighting is so crucial to winning than how come when the games become most critical (i.e. every single playoff series since the lockout) goons get put in the press box and fights never happen?

Boogaard's getting about 2.5M more than Orr.

That's, what I have a problem with.

Shelley's over 35. Loved him, but I learned my lesson last year with Brashear. Still though, I think Shelley proved he can help this team without dropping his gloves. Boogaard on the other hand, will only help this team when he's pummeling the opposition.

Most of Boogaards fights, will be staged ones against other goons. I have no problem with signing a goon. We definitely needed one. I did want Byers to get a realistic opportunity of making this team, but I understand Sathers motives. I just don't agree with the #'s. Especially when you consider how dry Dereks' hockey game is.

Renney used the Orr in plenty of different situations. He didn't shine, but he proved he can shoot par on the ice.

Boogaard's one of the worst skaters I have ever seen, in my 20 years watching hockey. I swear to god, I can outskate him and I haven't skated since I was 25.
