I imagine he is healed by now, since he was practicing with the Oilers at the end of the season.

He's not tough. But he's not soft either. He's dropped the gloves on occasion.

Replacing Frolov with Poni actually makes the team slightly tougher. He's going to be in a defensive role anyways.

Who else we're we going to replace Frolov with?

You have to remember the coach is Terry Murray. He now has 3 strong options on left wing, 3 options at center and 3 options on right wing so he can do the truffle shuffle every game. The coach likes to juggle line combos, the Kings can't lure top free agents so the best way to go is with depth. The Kings are going to be tough to control from the circles down with their forwards.

Penner is out of shape, overpaid and doesn't play anywhere near his size.

Penner is the opposite type of character player Dean Lombardi has been after. DP signed a big deal, then spent it on food. Dude should have a personal chef and trainer with the money he makes and I'd imagine you could write off both expenses so he has no excuse.

Penner likes cheeseburgers more than he likes hockey.

I seriously doubt that DL would go after a guy who, instead of trying to work out a reasonable contract with a team that just won a Cup, signed an offer sheet to go to Edmonton.

The guy was playing with Getzlaf and Perry! He had it made in the shade. Leaving a Cup-winner via offer sheet to go to a team nowhere near as good as the one you were just on is why Lombardi will not go after the guy...the burgers are just peripheral to the real problem.

But yet may still struggle to find the back of the net 5 on 5!

I recall many nights when the Kings cycled well, but couldn't finish. That probably won't change.

Yeah, that Detroit game comes to mind, the one where we plastered Howard with 50+ shots and scored only one goal.

Does that mean he wouldn't be interested in Bobby Ryan either?

Yeah, I imagine if the Kings ever acquired the guy that Lombardi and Hextall would be on his ass everyday regarding his conditioning.

Me too, though I can't think of why.

Just today, I checked the Rags website to see if Frolov had a new number yet (Callahan is #24 currently).
