Spector's blog mentionned a rumor that Niemi could come in Montreal.: http://community.foxsports.com/spect...,_sign_turco._

It is just a rumor?

I'm pretty sure he just took that out of my post earlier

Frankly, if the signing amount was right and we can get a decent return for Price. **** it, get rid of him.

Price still is the better goalie IMHO. That being said, Niemi finding himself without any contract should logically lower Price's and especially his agent's expectations on his next contract, if Gauthier and Price's clan actually had a hard time to come to some kind of agreement. If Price actually plays hard ball and really has irrealist expectations, well, there's an option out there, and it gives Price much less negociation ground.

I still think the Islanders are the best bet for Niemi at this point.

LOL

Dude - I like how you are straight to the point and.................I agree!

But, you know that Bob Gainey's clone, Pierre Gauthier will, like Gainey himself, hand the starting job to Price and play him no matter how poorly his game performances!

At the NHL level, Carey has never had to earn anything..........why should he have to start earning anything now?

Price is better, no question, especially for the amount Niemi got in arbitration (are they stupid or what?). And if somehow PG would go nuts and sign Niemi to trade Price, we better get a GREAT return... but it's just a rumor anyway

Is Auld on a 2-way? If we send him down, what about a new Price-Halak in Price-Niemi? Heck, Niemi is even 26

Keep in mind that this GREAT return that you speak of should have a maximum cap hit of around 0$ for the upcoming season...

Doesn't matter if Auld's on a 2-way (he's not), he would have to clear waivers anyway.

I'd eat all of your shorts' if Niemi Comes here. It just makes no sense. He's going to be expensive and we have a goaltending saturation with price, auld, sanford, etc.

As long as Price isn't signed, rumors will come flying from everywhere. There is now no doubt in my mind that PG has already signed Price and he's just playing with us. They're sitting in his office as we speak, reading EK and HFBoards laughing at us. Not funny, PG

You must be the successor to Earl the Halak fan.

I don't see how we will trade Price after trading away Halak.

It would be an epic fail if that happens. lol

Niemi probably would be better than the obscure Carey Price...

It's unlikely that Niemi gets $2.75m on the open market. There just aren't that many teams around. Turco had to go for $1.3m. With Philly, Washington and San Jose though, he'll get around $2-2.5m per. I'd prefer him, Price and Eller over Halak and Price.

By December of this year you'll wish Halak was still a Canadien and that Price was traded in his place.

Gauthier actually mentionned that scenario as an actual possibility in his post-season PC. It might not be likely to go through, but weirder things happened.

Niemi with our defense would look like an AHL goaltender.
