I'd take him back. Of course, I'd also punch Holmgren back to the end of June and make him not **** anything else up. However, both of these things happening have a very, very low probability.

Asham is a quality hockey player and always seems well liked by his teammates. Tough call in who I'd rather have between him and Powe...

With our history with injuries, all Arron has to do is wait it out until early November and there will be about 3 open spots. Just don't go sign with the Pens.

I like asham because he's never done anything to hurt us. And the dude's one of the better grinders in today's game.

Scratches count against your cap I thought. They only stop counting when you waive them or put them on injured reserve.

Scratches most certainly count. If you're on the roster, you count. Scratches are still "on the roster".

It'd all obviously depend on the dollars and cents on the cap, but I would gladly take Asham back. He's better than Shelley and more disciplined than Carcillo and is a serviceable fill-in who seems like a good character to have around the team.

So, if it can be worked out financially, then by all means bring him back.

They're about even. Powe can PK and bring more energy. Asham can fight and has more talent and skill offensively.

It's not a question about Powe vs. Asham. If our GM wasn't an idiot then there's a good possibility one of Powe or Asham could play the role of 13th forward.

Id take him back in a heartbeat. One of the most underrated players on the Flyers last season.

I wouldn't like that. I hope for Asham's sake he this isn't true though, I'd rather him be able to actually play somewhere than be a guy rotating in and out of the lineup.

Love it.... he may be able to kill penalties, but he wouldn't know his ass from a hole in the ground in the G dept.

I'll take Powe before I'll take Asham fairly easily because of his PK abilities. Not saying Powe doesn't have stone hands, but Asham breaks out his hands every 30 games. I'd rather have 82 games of Darroll Powe with limited offense than give Asham the offensive edge for that two or three times a season.

Asham was already making $640K, so it's not like he's making a huge leap of faith by it.

Both goals were off a screen...

I understand what you are saying about the PK ability I think someone else would be able to step in there and do the same if not better than Powe, with the upside of a scoring threat.

I like the flyers more (in my mind and dreamland) with Asham and without Shelly - which SHOULD probably been done all along....

This offseason has made me flip right to left and upside down in how I understand what the **** is going on, while trying to like it.

Its easy to replace Powe's PK abilities, but Asham brings 20 points per season on average from the 4th line, and if he gets paired up with the right guys, he might even add a bit more.

I like Asham, and quite frankly I'd rather have him than a guy like Carcillo on the team (not to mention Cote and Shelley), but as many others have stated, there's really no room for him as it is now. It's a bit odd that no other team has signed him though. Unless he holds out for specific teams (I don't know how settled he is on the east coast).
