Do you have any connection to the cause of the event (a disabled in your family)?

If not, that somewhat explains your ignorance.

To Leafs:RW Bobby Ryan and LW Matt Beleskey

To Ducks: D Thomas Kaberle, C Mikhail Grabovski and LW Luca Caputi or second round pick in 2011.

Ryan-Bozak-Kessel
Kulemin-Kardi-Kris Versteeg
Sjostrom-Mitchell-Armstrong
Beleskey-Hanson-Orr

Fair? Thoughts?
i am a huge leafs fan and even i have to say no way the ducks even look at that

Yeah, you'd think that our assistant GM, Nonis could handle that.

Burke has stated since day one that being active in the community is one of the most important things to being a Maple Leaf (this includes him as well). He wouldnt cancel something like this for nothing. I also find it hard to believe he would mischedule so badly that he would have to cancel two days before an event if it was for the World Hockey Summit. Thats not exactly something that sneaks up on you.

It makes sense from both sides.
or he could sign with his new team instead, saving the new team assets that could contribute to a winning season. signed kaberle means more going back to leafs which means less wherever he goes. un-signed kaberle means less given up wherever he is going, granted this could be his "giving back" to the leafs for all the years they have supported him too.

He is on the leadership team for the Submit which is under three weeks away and there could be something with one of the European participants that needs to be dealt with and the only time they could meet conflicted with the luncheon.

Anndddd....there could also be a significant move in the works.

We just don't know, and the potential speculation....hockey summit or transaction...is killing me

No connection. And I'm not saying the charity or the event is unportant. I'm just saying that all Burke's cancellation means is there is hockey business that he feels he should deal with that conflicts.

Charity appearances like that are pretty much always condifitional on real work not getting in the way. I'm sure he'll make it up to them by either rescheduling or possibly writing them a big cheque himself to help make up for it.

Niemi

Then Burke will trade a goalie for a Top 6 F.
Would Washington take a JSG?

I just expect it to be nothing. If it's something, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's the best strategy to being a Leafs fan.

Eklund says Forsberg so it must be true.

Burke would have to overpay for Forsberg to join the Leafs. It's not like he'll take a hometown discount.

I hope this signing is for either a young undrafted player or a contract extension for Tomas Kaberle.

I don't want it to be for a fragile guy like Forsberg or for a hopefully-soon-to-be-retired guy like Selanne.

Edit: I wouldn't mind if it was to sign A. Niemi, though.

I can't believe there's moronic toronto fans that think that because Burke loves to give back to the community and that he canceled a charity even, that it must mean something insane for Toronto like Peter Forsberg.

Probably something Kaberle related. I won't get my hopes up until I hear something official though.

I know.

And people have to remember that Burke's character is not perfect. Remember that when Peter Zezel asked for a trade from Vancouver to somewhere in the Eastern Conference because his niece in Toronto was ill and he wanted to be closer, Burke traded him to Anaheim. So Zezel retired.

Worst case scenario, Burke thought about his situation, and then went to discuss a trade-and-sign with Kaberle's camp.

It's not going to be Forsberg. If you disagree, I will hate to say I told you so, but I darn well told you so.

I'm not making any guesses. Just wondering if it's important enough for him to go himself and why Nonis couldn't. Nonis is more than capable and has been given a lot of responsibility by Burke in the past. (I think he had a lot of control in Free Agency 2009 when Burke was in Sweden).

I hope it's rescheduled.

Still kinda unsettling that it comes in at second.

Wouldn't surprise me if Burke has plans on reeling in Josef Vasicek.
