i think anything under 3 mil he would try and stay with the canucks. I'm pretty sure he would take a hometown discount since he loves it there so much. Not to mention he would see time with salo hurt. I do agree that he would see much more time here than in vancouver, but according to van fans he loves it over there.

perhaps gillis dangling the "possibility" of them taking him back has been delaying his decision.

I want him. Plus the two Mitchell's could combine to become some sort of Voltron-lite and lay waste to their opponents.

I'd like Mitchell, i do have concerns.

1) Is he healthy (head) and the rest of him - feels risky to me that he's one hit away from retirement from the NHL.

2) He's starting to pass his prime perhaps, he's older and i'm not sure about his foot speed.

All that stated, he could be a cheap short term fix we get him for under 3m. I'd take him only if younger players with longer contracts are not available (e.g.Stall, etc.) He'd be a decent Blake replacement, if he's physically ok maybe about the same to a hair better defensively. He's not an upgrade which i think we need at this position - this is a concern given our recent goal tending decision.

WTF is Huskins doing? Laaaaame. They're the enemy now Kent, at the very least that nice paycheck should warrant some loyalty out of you!

LOL It's funny how Mitchell used the long stick, as a long stick is used for defensemen in Lacrosse.

Nope, its legit. Keenan complained that Mitchell's stick was at an illegal length, so the Nucks team crew crafted an extra long stick that Willie used in a pregame warmup to mock Keenan.

Also, the Viagra ad in the shot is a nice touch.

Long story short, Mike Keenan called him out for having a long stick, so the next time the Flames/Nucks played, he came out for the warmup with a very (obviously illegally) long stick, as a joke.

I just want to say that Mitchell is not a slow skater. He's not the most fleet of foot, but much faster than some of the big slugfoots on the Sharks (no offense). Believe it or not, I saw him chase down Modano on a breakaway once. I would have thought you guys would know this since we play each other so often, but I guess not.

Anyways, I don't think ice-time is a huge deal as we're likely to roll each defenseman 20 minutes in various roles, more when Salo is out. Obviously Mitchell would be limited to just the PK on special teams. He'll get around 22 minutes with Boyle seeing as Boyle plays 4 minutes a night on the PP. Not really a huge difference.

I do believe that base salary is a factor. I'm not sure what Gillis is willing to offer him, but if it's too far off what others can offer, he might leave. I don't see him wanting to move far away from his family for Washington, and he would not be able to see a large role with the Wings. I see it between the Sharks and the Canucks, however I think the general impression is that if Gillis is fair, he won't want to go anywhere else.

Sharks-canucks games always end with about 80pims given out and all people remember are the brawls in the games.

I saw pielmeier play the thunder 4 or 5 times(since bakersfield's team is a division rival) he looked like **** even against crappy echl players. Really wasn't impressed by him at all. Oilers prospect Pitton outplayed him every game and he seemed to just let the dumbest goals in.

Saw the Wild beat writer, Michael Russo, tweet this and is speculating a $1.5m base deal for 1 yr + bonuses (since WIllie is eligible for a bonus laden contract for being out > 100 days).

That would be sweet if he signs w/ the Sharks.

Caps could offer more but I have to think Willie would like staying on the West coast and in the WC.

With his age and concussion history, it may not be safe for him to get too much icetime.
