My great deal. Anyone else?

So this week I went to hockey training for about 6 hours a day, and one of the guys there offers me a brand new Bauer x60 stick for $50. So I buy it, (Duh) and love it.

But whats cooler is the story behind it. The guy I bought it from was on the USA u17 team this year, and will play for the USA juniors team in the World Juniors turny this December. And if you play for they you get all your gear free, so he had about 30 of these sticks and then decited to change his curve. He is probably going to get drafted in the late first early second round this June.

So im happy with my new 87 flex Malkin curve bauer x60.

Anyone else get any sweet deals you would like to share?

I traded my friend a beat up softball glove and $10 for his Easton Ultra Lite shaft

Also got an Easton ST '09 shaft on ebay for $20 or so. New favorite stick for sure! Got a warrior AK27 blade on it (that I got for free!)

Had a pretty good week:

Eagle PPFi's (pre-Vaughn) for $99
Tackla 9000 Air for $109
RBK 7k Pro elbows (JOFA 9144) for $39
Reebok 4k shoulders for $40
Reebok 6k shins for $64

Needless to say, I've got to sell a lot of stuff now!

I got enough tape to last my whole team back home for a season and 2 practice jerseys from the Muskegon Fury for free, I probably could have gotten some other things but I honestly felt bad since I wasn't there as a "real" player.

Reebok 9K skates for $100
Easton S19 stick for $50
Sherwood T100 stick for $50
Easton S9 Helmet (with cage) for $55
Nike Bauer Supreme 50 Shoulder Pads for $35

Figure all that should ring up for a good $1000. Only paid $290.

I got my RBK 11K skates at the end of April, before they were in stores, for a little under 400$ from a friend who plays pro. Pretty nice deal, and it was fun getting comments from everyone who had never seen em before.

My brother calls me and says he bought a pair of skates at a garage sale that were marked $50 and haggled him down to $20. he said they were only worn a couple times.

When I went to visit him, i saw they were CCM 1052 Super tacks, and he wasn't lying about only being worn a few times, they hadn't even been sharpened. surprisingly they were his size too.

87 Flex is a little weak for a 16 year national player. But you got a great deal none the less.

Tell that to Ovi that uses a 70 something flex stick and many other guys going to soft whippy sticks.

I'm 230 and play with a 77 and like it.

Flex is all preferance (spelling?)
I really dont see the problem with people using a 50 flex or a 150.
If they like it, use it.

It's enough for Mike Commodore- one of the few NHL stick flexes I know for certain. It's more then Ovechkin uses, an quite a few other guys. 85 is really a pretty normal flex even in the NHL, and it's all personal preference anyway.

Here's the thing...I would love to use whippy sticks around an 85 flex but I would never do it. Since unlike NHL players, I do not get free sticks buying 8-10 200$ sticks in a season is not feasible for me, and I only play Jr.B(relatively high level still all ex-AAA and Jr.A players and 45 games a year). So I stick with 100-110 flex so I only have to buy 3-6 a year. So yes guys like NHLers and national junior players can use flexes like that for regular old players its just not feasible, IMO. I bet Ovi goes through 50-60 sticks a year.

But none the less, if your only paying 50 for the stick its a great deal.

Flex really doesn't have much to do with it. Tell Danny Briere he has a problem then because he starts at about 95 flex in the beginning of the season and still goes through about 100 sticks, not including POs.

Wow, then I am really underestimating how many Ovi uses, I just threw out a number. I know Hull used to go through at least 2-3 a game(he famously used 50-60 flex).

Anyways I find flex makes a huge difference in how many I break. And every other player I've known including many now-NHLers agree with me. The more flex(or less if you look at the numbers) the more it breaks.

got a pair of easton size large pants plus a role of white tape and clear tape for $2.50 at a yard sale a couple weeks ago.

got a pair of easton 14" gloves at a yard sale last year - $10 (maybe it was $5 don't remember) - small rip by one finger, and they are green camouflage.

last week got a green western 2004 all star goalie jersey at liquidation world for $10.

I'm sure that guy appreciates you advertising that he is selling off his sticks that USA hockey gave him. While it probably isn't uncommon, it is also something I am sure USA hockey doesn't condone. I'm glad you got a good deal and I am glad this kid got 50 bucks in his pocket but probably shouldn't go posting this on the internet.

Found an s17 on clearance for $130. Played with it a few times, took it home, set it on the 2nd step, and jumped on it a few times. Found an S19 on clearance for $130.

Got a game used RBK 10K stick for $50. Yay for AHL'ers who were only called up for 1 game, and had only 3 minutes TOI. It looks pristine.

I bet this guy is fun to party with!

Do you seriously think USA hockey gives a hoot about this? Maybe they are logging IP addys as we speak and planning a huge take down.

The sticks were 100% comped in the first place. You know the drill. Bauer says, "Please, please use our sticks in your elite program so we can get exposure and sell a bunch of these retail." Once they give the sticks the player can do whatever the heck he wants with them.

Stop being such a nit.

No a local shop was clearing them out and gave me a discount since I spend way too much money there. The hockey monkey deal is really good though, they have them on clearance plus you can use the 10% off code from what I hear.
