Markov might be named captain but I doubt that they waited one year just for that if they tought that him being captain could of helped the team. So I doubt you have inside information with a player who told you this and gave you this reason.
LOL ok there FB, if i really gave a sweet **** if you believed me or not this would have some great importance but i don't and it doesn't.
Not my style to start these types of threads. Was only giving information i recieved, you can do with it what you please.

I'd be perfectly okay with Markov for captain. I had him 3rd on my list after Gionta and Gorges but he's still a good choice.

Agree or not, I'm still stunned that people don't remember where their team is playing. It is a debate, like it or not, agree with it or not. They won't let it go. They might be less hard on him based on how little he speaks to begin with and like he said himself, he'll concentrate in being better in english first. But the subject will be brought up.

And that's the spirit. We can totally choose to find it stupid. But at least, we're not surprise it happens.

Since we should all know it might often come to this, I prefer not seeing Markov as the captain. Gionta might be more able to deflect this or to learn it a little more than what Markov might be able to do. Besides, I want Markov to concentrate on other things. Like concentrating on stopping being so damn unlucky. And concentrating on having better playoffs performances. Gionta and Cammy are my picks based on how easy going they are and how talking to journalists don't intimidate them. Markov has made tremendous improvement in that department, but we all know it won't be enough.

Besides....nobody here knows Markov personnally. Markov and/or his agent. How much will they use that in the next contract negotiation? Are we going to paint ourselves in the corner the same way we did it with Price on a different level?

I've spoken to PD and his information comes from a legitimate source. Now I'm not saying it's 100% true, but the information is good enough to let this thread stand.

Even if I told you the name, most of you wouldn't know who it was.

It's PD's source, so if he wants to let you guys know who it is, it's up to him.

Chances are if no one really knows him, then he has no real connection to the habs, so he wouldn't have any inside information, thus it's not a reliable source.

He's a former Habs player. The reason I said most of you might not know him, is because he played before most of you were even born. He's definitely a reliable source.

I just want to congratulate Peacock, Jigger77 and Whitesnake, for the way they spoke in the debate about captaincy & languages. I seriously believe that if most anglos in Canada had your open mindedness and understanding, the separatist movement would take a huge blow...

That said, even if I'm a sovereignist myself, I don't think speaking French should be required for the captain. I think it's important for the GM and the head coach to be fluent in French because they have a role to play with the medias and they have a special relationship with the public. But I think the captain job is a locker room job. As long as the captain can communicate well with his team mates, I don't see the problem. Other players can talk to the medias.

So I would have no problem with Markov as the captain. He's not my first choice but he's not a bad choice.

Is there a way that you can confirm that he has spoken to this Canadiens Alumni or are you just taking his word for it?

A little bit of both Koseegin. PD provided me with details, so I made a judgment call. I can make some phone calls to see if there is anymore to this story though.

In the meantime it's just a rumour, so we'll see how accurate this is later.

Thank you sir. My point of view on the matter was greatly influenced by travelling to all provinces and meeting people from all of them. I see Canada as an adolescent country. We are young and stick to our own cliques and proliferate the assumptions and judgements by doing so. Think of it as teenagers at party. Once teens from different towns or background start to mingle they all realize they are pretty much one and the same.

Or as old Wilfrid Laurier put it (a Franco)

"Two races share today the soil of Canada. These people had not always been friends. But I hasten to say it. There is no longer any family here but the human family. It matters not the language people speak, or the altars at which they kneel."

Markov he's built like a Lada.

Are they going to put the C on his wheel chair, or will he wear it on his shoulder brace... maybe he wil want to wear the red cross or a white H on a blue background

(I am just joking)
Markov is good captain material. Stand-up guy, consistent and level-headed demenor.

so PnD says "ask h10h, he'll tell you if he wants."

and h10h says "ask PnD, he'll tell you if he wants."

so that means you're both cool with telling us right?
