I'm fine with the thread and it's premise, but...please do not cite specific posts or posters in an attempt to humiliate or demean them. Hindsight is 20/20 and we've all posted some things we would cringe at if we looked a couple years ahead into the future.
Any post calling out another member will be cited for "flaming" as per the site rules. Calling out ideas and thoughts are fine as long as they aren't discussed in a way that calls out a specific poster.
He's number 1 on Vancouver and most people have them as Western Conference favorites.
Erhoff is the #1 in Vancouver, not Hamhuis.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
I think it's the main thing that has allowed us pull away from Columbus. We got our No. 1 center when he became available while the Jackets are still searching for theirs...

come on, the guy did play like a #1 for three years and really didnt fall off until last season...
I bet there are plenty of GMs who wish they had signed Arnott for 4.5 even rather than some of the guys that got 6-8 million in the early years of their deals *cough* gomezbreire *cough*

On a good team, Arnott is a number 2 center. He has been his entire career, excepting his time in Nashville. When I think "number one center," I think of guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Marleau, Thornton, Backstrom, Kopitar, Staal, etc. I think Arnott was, for a time, at the high end of number 2 centers, but I don't think he would have been the number one center on most teams with the cash to afford someone better.

I'd put Vermette over Arnott, personally, but, hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.
